Aug. 9th, 2008 11:38 amI'm back, and am unbroken! Which is always my equal goal with skiing, along with having fun, which I did :D
The snow was good and conditions were pretty good (some times with poor visibility is about the only problem), skiied every morning and afternoon (but with lots of breaks too). I think my gym going has paid off a bit, I think I could tell that I had a bit better strength and stamina. Friday morning was especially awesome, there'd been a little bit of fresh snow overnight, and it had cleared to the most beautiful crisp bluesky morning. We didn't want to leave. At least there were delicious pancakes on the way home to cheer us up.
All I did all week was ski, eat, read and sleep (not necessarily in that order). I read 6 new-to-me books - Shadows Return by Lynn Flewelling, Making Money by Terry Pratchett, House of Many Ways by Diana Wynne Jones, a book about Georgette Heyer and the Regency period, Legacy (Sharing Knife 2) by Lois McMaster Bujold and a Kathy Reichs book (why did they bother keeping Temperance Brennan's name when they made the tv series of Bones? It's completely different in almost every way from the books).
The food is really good where we stay - breakfast buffet including cooked breakfast, bbq lunches and leftovers, and three course dinner with three choices for each. Plus lots of chocolate for energy boosts. Despite all the skiing, I probably gained weight :)
I have skimmed my flist (not communities) for the last 6 days, but that's as close to catching up as I think I'll get. I've now got 50 tabs open, whoops.

Date: 2008-08-09 02:45 am (UTC)OOH, I had no clue there was a new sequel to Howl's Moving Castle!!! What did you think of it? And how was the second Sharing Knife book (and what were your opinions of the first? I liked it but it didn't grab me like the Vorkosigan books did.

Date: 2008-08-09 07:24 am (UTC)The second Sharing Knife book was good, but felt quite slight (much like the first). They're certainly not the Vorkosigan books *g*, but an enjoyable read.
