I'm back, and am unbroken! Which is always my equal goal with skiing, along with having fun, which I did :D

The snow was good and conditions were pretty good (some times with poor visibility is about the only problem), skiied every morning and afternoon (but with lots of breaks too). I think my gym going has paid off a bit, I think I could tell that I had a bit better strength and stamina. Friday morning was especially awesome, there'd been a little bit of fresh snow overnight, and it had cleared to the most beautiful crisp bluesky morning. We didn't want to leave. At least there were delicious pancakes on the way home to cheer us up.

All I did all week was ski, eat, read and sleep (not necessarily in that order). I read 6 new-to-me books - Shadows Return by Lynn Flewelling, Making Money by Terry Pratchett, House of Many Ways by Diana Wynne Jones, a book about Georgette Heyer and the Regency period, Legacy (Sharing Knife 2) by Lois McMaster Bujold and a Kathy Reichs book (why did they bother keeping Temperance Brennan's name when they made the tv series of Bones? It's completely different in almost every way from the books).

The food is really good where we stay - breakfast buffet including cooked breakfast, bbq lunches and leftovers, and three course dinner with three choices for each. Plus lots of chocolate for energy boosts. Despite all the skiing, I probably gained weight :)

I have skimmed my flist (not communities) for the last 6 days, but that's as close to catching up as I think I'll get. I've now got 50 tabs open, whoops.

Yay for skiing and being unbroken!

OOH, I had no clue there was a new sequel to Howl's Moving Castle!!! What did you think of it? And how was the second Sharing Knife book (and what were your opinions of the first? I liked it but it didn't grab me like the Vorkosigan books did.

Have a great time! My sister and I were plotting a trip to Cairns/Port Douglas (maybe next year) while skiing - mmmmm, tropics.

House of Many Ways is cute and fun. It left feeling me a little "...but why didn't you flesh this out more?????", but I guess that's where it's a YA book.

The second Sharing Knife book was good, but felt quite slight (much like the first). They're certainly not the Vorkosigan books *g*, but an enjoyable read.

I'm glad you had a great vacation! I read a number of books on my vacation as well; it's great when you can finally find the time for it.

What? Only 50?!? ;-)

I've been away for a few days and I think I've got over 100 open tabs ;-).

Welcome back :-).

I'm glad you're home safe and sound. I haven't been skiing in ages and miss it. I'm scared that my body won't cope any more! LOL.

I sent a message to you in your LJ INbox when you get around to it, love to hear back from you.

PS - Have you seen the new X-Files movie yet? Thoughts, opinions?

Cheers,
Kim

I feel so in love with Bones that I have started reading the Kathy Reichs books. I'm onto book 4 with, 5 and 6 waiting in the other room for me. I had no idea the characters would be so different. I now think of them as book!Tempe and tv!Tempe. I like book!Tempe it just took me a little while to get to know her.

Sound like you had a great time. I was wondering if shadows Return is worth getting? I wil have to re-read the first ones though.

Currently, 46 in Firefox and 6 in IE (since my Firefox is having sound issues - it doesn't play them).

I need to be away from other distractions (my attention span is so eroded *g*).

It's probably not my favourite of the books, but if you like the others, you should enjoy it too :)

I'm not sure which one it was, a later one I think (Fatal Voyage?). I liked it, will probably read more, but apart from her job (sort of), it had nothing to do with the tv show :D

No, haven't got around to that yet. Still trying to decide if I do want to see it, actually.

Fatal Voyage is the one I'm currently reading - book 4. While each book is a stand alone, some of the details bleed over from book to book, mostly I find it's the realationship stuff.
