I've had this movie for ages, but only just recently got around to watching it. Which was a stupid thing to do, because it's lovely.

Please comment if you download, and don't direct link to my files, or link my journal on message boards/communities/forums etc. If you're using a download manager (which I definitely recommend), please check and make sure it is set to only 4 or 5 reconnects, as more can cause problems.

Based on a series of novels by Richard Stevenson, it's the first in a series of adventures of Donald Strachey, a private investigator in Albany, NY. The film is entertaining enough for it's noir-style mystery, but it's Donald's relationship with his partner, Timmy Callahan, that makes it must-watch material. Cause that's not "buddy" partner, that's "married as two men can be" partner. And they're cuter than a pile of puppies. (You may remember Chad Allen as one of the kids on Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman and Sebastian Spence from BSG, Supernatural or First Wave (or from lots of other things, in both their cases)).

The film isn't terribly highbudget (made for tv by the here!Network - yes, home of Dante's Cove, amongst other things), but it's a lot of fun, and as it's filmed in Canada, you'll recognise most of the supporting cast. I've got the second film (Shock to the System, and there's more to come) but only as a lower quality two-part wmv. If anyone knows where I can get an avi, I'd prefer to share that, but if not I'll upload the version I have of Shock, if people are interested.

And if you decide you're keen on them, both films are available on dvd from Amazon and Deep Discount etc.

And I totally have an ulterior motive in pimping - I want more fic, especially about their backstory *g*.

Thanks for sharing this. I have loved Chad Allen since he was in that show with Wilfred Brimley so many years ago. I'm glad to see more current work of his.

I don't know if its my computer or the file, but my rar utility says that the "file is broken". But the 2nd file works fine. Does anyone else have that problem?

Do you use a download manager? I've had a few people have problems with my rar files, I'm not sure if they always download correctly, but as they work on my computer before I upload and for most people, I don't know what the problem is sorry!

I just used the Firefox downloader. Is the file still up? Would it be ok if I redownload?

Can I suggest trying it with StarDownloader or another download manager? I think someone else has had problems with rar files that they downloaded from me with FF, I have no idea why.

And definitely download again, hope it works!
