Third Man Out

I've had this movie for ages, but only just recently got around to watching it. Which was a stupid thing to do, because it's lovely.

Please comment if you download, and don't direct link to my files, or link my journal on message boards/communities/forums etc. If you're using a download manager (which I definitely recommend), please check and make sure it is set to only 4 or 5 reconnects, as more can cause problems.

Based on a series of novels by Richard Stevenson, it's the first in a series of adventures of Donald Strachey, a private investigator in Albany, NY. The film is entertaining enough for it's noir-style mystery, but it's Donald's relationship with his partner, Timmy Callahan, that makes it must-watch material. Cause that's not "buddy" partner, that's "married as two men can be" partner. And they're cuter than a pile of puppies. (You may remember Chad Allen as one of the kids on Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman and Sebastian Spence from BSG, Supernatural or First Wave (or from lots of other things, in both their cases)).

The film isn't terribly highbudget (made for tv by the here!Network - yes, home of Dante's Cove, amongst other things), but it's a lot of fun, and as it's filmed in Canada, you'll recognise most of the supporting cast. I've got the second film (Shock to the System, and there's more to come) but only as a lower quality two-part wmv. If anyone knows where I can get an avi, I'd prefer to share that, but if not I'll upload the version I have of Shock, if people are interested.

And if you decide you're keen on them, both films are available on dvd from Amazon and Deep Discount etc.

And I totally have an ulterior motive in pimping - I want more fic, especially about their backstory *g*.

I give up. I don't know what it is between your computer and mine, but I can never un-rar your files no matter which program I use. I just get lots of errors. And I wanted to see this! *whines*

What errors do you get? Coworker T couldn't get my Dr Who finale to un-rar either, but I test them before uploading (I use WinRAR) so I don't know what the problem might be. Very frustrating all around :(

Something about an unexpected stop. I redownloaded it and got it again (and I used WinRar, IzArch and ... Yeah, same result each time). Even once I'd put the password in and tried unzipping, it was an empty folder. Very frustrating, because I don't know why it would do that. :/

SO I tried again. Through IE. THIS time? It was fine and the movie just opened up for me without any problems. Not sure why Firefox was having such issues with it, but it did. So YAY! I got it now. But um, took me three tries for it, I'm sorry I ate your bandwidth!

I have no idea what the issues are, but my bandwidth is fine *g* (I have 120 gig/day and never come close to the monthly limit). I remember someone else having problems using Firefox's download manager. I use StarDownloader and Free Download Manager, for what it's worth.

*nods* when I was still on dial up, you'd told me about Star and I used it then. Since we went back to high speed, I haven't though. I'll have to remember to use IE when I download files off you. ;-)
