backyard wildlife
Feb. 16th, 2007 05:31 pmAwww, look what we spotted in the garden today - a bush turkey chick!

Unfortunately it was a little camera shy and this was the best shot I could get without getting too close and maybe freaking it out.
Hey, while I'm at this, have some photos from when I went skiiing last August.
Me skiing (very slowly on gentle slope so my sister wouldn't kill herself taking the photo)

View from the ski lodge at dawn

Matching view from the ski lodge at dusk

Date: 2007-02-16 09:06 pm (UTC)We weren't really up - we pass out early from exhaustion, so we wake up early but stay in bed until hunger rouses us.

Date: 2007-02-16 11:11 am (UTC)You're up at dawn? I'm impressed. ;)
I checked out your possum pictures and I do have the feeling that Australian possums are somewhat cuter than their American counterparts. It could just be me though.

Date: 2007-02-16 09:04 pm (UTC)Having seen some pictures of American possums - THEY ARE TERRIFYINGLY EVIL-LOOKING! And yes, ours = way cuter *g*.

Date: 2007-02-16 09:11 pm (UTC)It's only recently that we've spotted the turkeys around here, despite always living on the edge of a suburban bush area. Good sign in some ways (though it could be the drought forcing them into backyards), though they are mound-builders, so they can do a fair bit of damage. We'll have to wait and see if they're moving in :)

Date: 2007-02-16 11:03 pm (UTC)I'm actually going to go skiing for the first time tomorrow! As in downhill skiing, I've done crosscountry a million times of course. It's funny that I've never done that, after all I live in Finland of all places! :)
