Awww, look what we spotted in the garden today - a bush turkey chick!

Unfortunately it was a little camera shy and this was the best shot I could get without getting too close and maybe freaking it out.

Hey, while I'm at this, have some photos from when I went skiiing last August.

Me skiing (very slowly on gentle slope so my sister wouldn't kill herself taking the photo)

It was maybe twenty cm tall, and still kinda fluffy!

It's cute now. Wait til it's crapping everywhere and stealing food out of your hands... Yes, I love our native wildlife, why do you ask?

The hand-fed possums never moved in, so I've got hopes we'll keep this one outside too ;)

We've already got bandicoots and/or bush turkeys digging lots of holes in the garden.

Fortunately we don't have too many cats and dogs around here at the moment, so here's hoping it'll be ok :)

Hi sweetheart - my god that looks like an amazing dawn (must have almost been worth being up).

And I'm really sorry to hear about Bella. She was obviously very very loved *hugs you*

She was indeed. I've never heard my brother cry the way he did when he rang us when she first got sick - at first I was worried that something had happened to his wife!

We weren't really up - we pass out early from exhaustion, so we wake up early but stay in bed until hunger rouses us.

The turkey chick is cute.

You're up at dawn? I'm impressed. ;)

I checked out your possum pictures and I do have the feeling that Australian possums are somewhat cuter than their American counterparts. It could just be me though.

We tend to pass out early from exhaustion (as none of us are fit enough), so we wake up early and doze ;)

Having seen some pictures of American possums - THEY ARE TERRIFYINGLY EVIL-LOOKING! And yes, ours = way cuter *g*.

Thank you for sharing the pictures! The sunset/rise pictures are gorgeous and I'm completely enthralled with the bush turkey. And how cute are you are bundled up in the snow?

Skiing photos are certainly ones you can post openly online, no matter how paranoid you are *g*.

It's only recently that we've spotted the turkeys around here, despite always living on the edge of a suburban bush area. Good sign in some ways (though it could be the drought forcing them into backyards), though they are mound-builders, so they can do a fair bit of damage. We'll have to wait and see if they're moving in :)

Thank you! Don't know why I never got around to posting them before (well, I do, but laziness is such a lame excuse *g*).

Bush turkey chicks are definitely cuter than the big ones.

I'm actually going to go skiing for the first time tomorrow! As in downhill skiing, I've done crosscountry a million times of course. It's funny that I've never done that, after all I live in Finland of all places! :)

I've never done crosscountry (sounds too much like hard work *g*), hope you enjoy!

Crosscountry is hard work! I don't recommend it unless you're crazy and in a really good shape. I haven't done it in years, since school, and hope I'll never have to again. :)
