Video-editing help
Jan. 14th, 2007 12:43 pmOne of the things I'm looking forward to doing more of on this new computer is some video editing projects, both fannish and familial. However, I'm trying out Ulead VideoStudio 10 and am about ready to tear my hair out in frustration. It's so incredibly slow - I click on an image I've placed in the timeline, and it'll take at least 3-4 seconds for the program to respond, and switch the menus over etc. I have no idea why - this is a fairly good new computer with dual-core processors and lots of RAM. Anything else video-related that I've used on it (like VirtualDub or NeroVision) is much much faster than on the previous machine.
Any suggestions on what the problem might be? Or what other programs I could give a try? I used to have (a legitimately purchased but now oldish version of) Cyberlink PowerDirector that was quite useful, but had been hoping to move to something with a bit more control and options.
I must be insane though, after making my poplove video, I told myself to never try making a songvid, the editing was bad enough on it without trying to set it to music. Yet here I am, trying to make a Torchwood vid.

Date: 2007-01-14 03:05 am (UTC)Dr Who is a very long running British sf show about a time-traveller called The Doctor, and his various companions. First started in 1963, and the Doctor has been played by ten different actors now. After years of no new Who (apart from lots of books and radio plays etc), they restarted it the other year with the Ninth Doctor. Torchwood is a slightly more adult oriented spinoff, the first season of which just finished.

I grew up with Doctor Who and love the new series, but I don't know if it's gonna be everyone's cup of tea.

Date: 2007-01-14 03:00 pm (UTC)My daughter uses windows movie maker to edit videos for you tube. I've never tried it though.
I know on the high end is Adobe Premiere. I've tried that but didn't have the patience to learn it.
BTW, if you find a torrent for Premiere Pro would you share it.
Thanks,
Bren

Date: 2007-01-14 08:19 pm (UTC)WMM is fine for some stuff, but a little too basic, plus I want to be able to do decent output, especially on family videos that I burn to dvd.
Sadly, I don't torrent, I'm gonna have to try and find someone who can share it.
