Am attempting to write cover letters for job applications for jobs that I am woefully unqualified for. Am not feeling creative today, so am finding it very hard to find anything to put in these letters that would justify these people considering hiring me. For at least one of them, I don't really want them to consider me, as while I'd love the job, I *couldn't* do it. Argh. Grrrr.

Anyone want to do something this weekend?

I've got a bridal shower Sat afternoon, for a neighbour I've known my whole life, but apart from that are footloose and plan-free. Well, except for relatives coming over on Sunday afternoon, but I'd prefer to miss that if possible.

"Hire me, I have a magnifiscent bossum!" (And friends who can't spell).

Heh, are you my "bosom friend"? And I haven't even be re-reading Anne of Green Gables lately :)

Maybe I *should* try honesty.

"Hire me, I don't steal office supplies...much."

"If you hire me, most of the time when I call in sick, I actually will be sick."

"You should employ me, as I won't abuse my work net access to look at naked women."

Bossom Buddies, like that show with Tom Hanks. We'll dress up as women in order to sneak into a women's only housing estate. Do you think we could pass as real women? I have make up, you can borrow one of my wigs...

And all of your excuses above are good and valid reasons to hire someone.

Sounds like a challenge...if I can look half as passable as the guys in Sorority Boys I'll be doing well :)

Sin is possibly coming over saturday sometime to watch Hercules & bringing I-Man, Oat and other slashy goodness. Whether she's still coming I don't know as her internet is broken.. :(
But you're welcome to come along... I think meelie has some Lois & Clark for you too.

Maybe I should open this as a general invitation to everyone...
Slash at my house, saturday afternoon/evening. Email me (alasen@optusnet.com.au) or contact me on IM (alasen1) tonight for details.

Oh, and good luck with job interviews :)

I'm stuck on cripple duty until Sunday. IF anything's happening Sunday, I'd be up for it, but the rest of the weekend's full of cleaning and feeding.

If nothing else, let's go out shopping for a bit, or for lunch, or something, to get away from our families. It'd be nice to catch up, haven't seen you since Sinpoz :)

Sounds like a very good idea indeed. I have just had quite a bit of fun defrosting my freezer. It's like ice carving, only totally incompetent.

Ahhh Me too!

That's exactly what I've been doing this week too. Writing cover letters to fax or mail for jobs I'm applying for, plus up-dating my CV. I find it tricky to work out what to say to make them think I'll be a good choice for an employee... don't think 'I'm a slow learner' and 'I lack skills and you can't pay me junior wages', etc, is going to come across that well.

It totally sucks! Don't think my 'honest' replies, as in my reply to Bernice earliar, would be a good thing to try though :)

I hate too...I applied for one with the EPA at the start of October which I thought I might have had a chance with, but haven't heard anything apart from the letter saying they'd received it. And I really liked the look of it :(
Maybe I'm too scientific for the policy section.
And now have to decide in the next two days whether to apply for a data management job with the Australian Oceanographic Data Centre (part of the Department of Defence) down at Garden Island...I don't know...
When I was writing my CV and covering letter for the EPA job I was so depressed, mum told me to be CJ ;

Argh, that's even worse. This is just the humiliation of sending off for jobs I know I'm not qualified for. When you feel you have a chance *and* you want it...much, much more pressure.

Hmmm, I'm willing to take a tumble into a pool if an old friend wants to show up and offer me a job. Though I suspect that isn't what your mum meant ;)

I can't swim well, but I'll take the plunge too ;)
And now I'm even more annoyed because it looks like I may have stuffed up my EPA application because I didn't address EEO/diversity/Occupational health and safety etc...not that I know how to address them in the first place.
But I may have taken myself out of the running at the start :(
