An Evening with PJ

I went to "An Evening with Peter Jackson" this evening, the first thing of this type he's done, where he's just talked about making LOTR and his film-making in general. Sadly, he wasn't wearing shorts, but his shirt was quite loud. Also, since he's lost weight, there's an uncanny resemblance between him and Dom. hnix, sinbrat and I all noticed. As others have probably already posted, the absolute highlight of the night was the previously unseen footage that was shown - which I had wondered about beforehand, what on earth hasn't been put in on the dvds or otherwise shown somewhere?

The answer - some of Peter's own personal collection of LOTR bloopers. Dear god, let these be released or leaked somehow. I'll try and post what I can recall of them tomorrow.

I am a sheep who follows blindly. But wacky hijinks in a resturant bathroom ensued, so it's not all bad. Baaaa.

The leader of the male pop vocal group pack is Backstreet Boys, with more than 29.5 million albums sold in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. 'N Sync is second with 27.6 million.
New Kids on the Block have shipped 17.5 million albums in the United States, per the Recording Industry Association of America. (Most of the New Kids album sales came previous to the establishment of Nielsen SoundScan in 1991; that is why I am using RIAA figures.) 98 Degrees has sold 6.9 million, while O-Town has moved 1.9 million.

Interesting, I had the impression that Nsync had the higher US sales, while BSB was ahead on worldwide figures. I'm assuming that's based on 4 albums each (Backstreet Boys, Millenium, Black and Blue, Chapter 1 vs Nsync, Home for Christmas, No Strings Attached and Celebrity).

Backstreet are far bigger outside the US than Nsync are. I don't remember ever hearing Nsync songs before I got into popslash, but a number of the Backstreet ones were familiar, and it's so rare to hear Nsync on the radio here, but some of the Backstreet songs get played (especially As Long As You Love Me, I'll Never Break Your Heart, All I Have To Give).

I think the big thing, though, was the record for the number of albums sold in the first week of sales, and everyone sort of forgot about everything else.
