I did my civic duty
Mar. 27th, 2004 10:54 amand avoided a fine ie I went and voted in our local goverment election this morning. Huge range of candidates to vote from, 3 groups of 2, and one loner. We'd only seen info about two of the groups (the current reps for the ward, and another pair). In some places, these elections have been a huge deal, but despite there being some quite important local issues (development, development and I don't know...development?), it's been quite low key here.
We vote at my old primary [grade] school, normally in the school hall. There's construction work going on, so this time, it was in the Old Building, in one of my old classrooms. It's a big room, cause the Old Building is the original school building from 1903. I was suddenly having flashbacks to fourth grade. Of course, the best part of voting is running into people we know, and often haven't seen in years, up at school, but the cake stall (to raise money for the music program) isn't bad either.
Now I'm gonna have to see if there are sociable activites occurring today - I have wee little mini choc muffins to share *g*.
