Not very well thought out reactions

This is not a children's book. I'm going to be very interested in the reviews of this book, because...damn.
On the whole, I liked it quite a lot.
Before the book came out, I thought that Sirius wasn't the likeliest next death. She wouldn't be so cruel as to take Harry's parental substitute, would she? Hagrid, Lupin, a older Weasley, maybe Dumbledore, but Snape and Sirius seemed much less likely to me (Snape because he has too bigger role to play, I suspect). As the book went on, I got more and more worried about Sirius, but his death was still like a kick to the stomach. I really didn't know who it was going to be, hell, she had me worried that she had killed off Hermione!. I know Sirius wasn't very popular with some Snape fans, as many of my friends are, so I wonder what the fannish reaction to this will be. This might get me in trouble, but I'd rather she'd killed off some of those other people, actually. Though my feeling now is that no one is safe. There is no way that everyone is going to get out of this alive.
A much darker book, wasn't it? Harry's anger, the new perspective on his parents, the sheer nastiness of some of the goings on (like the detention punishment with the lines writing into Harry). Though if Harry doesn't actually grow and learn from it all (ie that he should stop and think), the teenage angst will get old soon.
I didn't really like the prophecy thing. Felt a bit last minute.
Like that the gang isn't just Harry, Hermione and Ron.
Yes, Harry can be a brat, and yes, Padfoot and Prongs were assholes, but shouldn't Snape act like the grownup occasionally and rise above this? Will we get an explanation as to why he didn't resume the lessons?
Liked that Dumbledore admitted that he screwed up, and why.
Ha, totally forgot how much I snickered over Dudley's line where he asks Harry if Cedric is his boyfriend.
I  Neville.
The only Harry pairing I've ever read much of is Harry/Draco. However, it is really pushing it at this point to redeem Draco.
Interesting to see stuff I've seen people talk about, like the divisions between the houses, get addressed. Well, at least by the Sorting Hat.
So, when's Book 6 coming out? *g*
