thoughts on a finale

erilynWell, that was a mixed bag.
Liked the kids having fun in New York, lots of adorableness and awesome wardrobe choices!
Didn't like that they wrote their own songs at the last minute and threw together a performance - why should I root for these people? If they finished twelth (which is fucking fantastic for a choir built up from scratch in two years) with those crappy songs, imagine how well they would have done if the duet had been Kurt and Rachel on For Good (best part of the episode[1])? And are you fucking kidding me - Brittany gets to sing a lead part at Nationals, and Mercedes has never had a lead in a competition?
Seriously, is there anyone who wanted Rachel to take Finn back? She moons over him for months, but 5 minutes after he dumps Quinn (love the new hair! lose the "poor poor me" attitude!) he's chucking a tantrum cause Rachel won't take him back? Whatever. To steal from someone at TWoP: I really think Finn and Rachel's epic date PALED in comparison to her date with Kurt. Finn did what you do in "those romantic comedies." Kurt did what he knew Rachel would really enjoy.
And I was totally with Jesse and Blaine - I was facepalming over that kiss (I was hoping the empty audience shot meant it was happening in Finn's imagination or something).
When do we get the Glee spin-off about Rachel , Kurt, Blaine and Santana in New York? Hell, given that Rachel is the child of gay parents, the characters that really interest me are all part of the queer community. Finn can make appearances for cute brotherly moments ONLY.
There was such a weird lack of tension, things either fizzled out or resolved too easily. I approve of Sam/Mercedes, but not sure why they're on the downlow, unless they're trying to hide from the writers. I hope Brittany/Santana stay best friends, and Santana gets a new (female) love interest. At least for a while. Please don't hate me, Brittana shippers.
Kurt and Blaine at the end were adorable! I really liked the low-key "I love you"s. I'm gonna be so disappointed if we don't get to hear anything from Kurt's musical about Pippa Middleton...
ETA: remembered something else I liked - Cheyenne Jackson as Dustin Goolsby, hope he's still the VA coach next season, they haven't even had him sing yet.
This probably makes it sound like I hated the ep, but I didn't! It made me laugh, there were some songs I liked, but there were big parts of meh.

Date: 2011-05-25 01:37 pm (UTC)Though I've changed my mind about Dustin - I don't want him at VA, I want him to replace Will as ND coach. He can be all "I HATE YOU ALL" and the kids would be all "LOL Mr Gools" and then encircle him in a group hug. Sue could go back to hating the Glee club coach.
