Glee - the illustrated version

OMG!!! I went into the episode a little annoyed that I thought I knew a bit despite wanting to avoid spoilers, and it turned out that I didn't know the big stuff - Kurt singing a solo song, Blaine falling for Kurt, and yay kissing! ♥ It was very hot, and though I was laughing hysterically at Blaine's Face of Dawning Realisation of Kurt's Attractiveness (well, duh), I thought Darren Criss did well with such a rushed plot point.
I've been disappointed in the post-hiatus plotline for them, and while I'll never understand RIB's inability to plot out a simple romance in a more satisfying way, I'm shallow enough that the kiss will buy some goodwill from me (I'm not forgiving them for BIOTA anytime soon though). I'm very glad that Kurt wasn't pining all over Blaine in the episode, that made it feel a bit more...balanced?

Cause those kisses was really pretty damn hot, right? Why did they have to cut off the second one so fast, dammit!

And how fucking awesome was Blackbird? Kurt needs to sing all Beatles, all the time. Or at least whenever something sad happens. And Kurt's honesty about having problems with Blaine singing all the solos, being totally frank about being jealous, and wanting to audition for the duet - so mature, so Kurt Hummel being Kurt, in the best way (and well-dressed too!). I was totes impressed.
I don't mind if Kurt's hesitancy is used to slow the couple down so that its natural for them not to have progressed far during hiatus (either this short one now, or over summer). I want relationship development on-screen! And I want to see when Burt, Mercedes, Finn and Rachel find out about Kurt/Blaine! I dream of a scene where Burt finds out that, prompted by Kurt being shy about sex, Blaine urged Burt to give Kurt The Talk, urgently! And then Blaine hit on Kurt about 5 minutes later. Someone get Burt his flamethrower.
Some other things happened in the episode, right? Oh wait, EVERYTHING happened in this episode, including a gazillion songs, still not sure how this all fit into 1 ep.
Sue's claims about the MCR drummer made me laugh - but then her acknowledging that she lied and claiming it was the dummer from Jimmy Eat World instead was the perfect followup.
The Warblers were robbed. Even their choreography was better than New Directions - and wasn't the whole point of Sectionals that ND were going to slay the competition with their dancing? What happened at Regionals? And why have the girls in fugly leggings if no dancing?
I was bored during Rachel's neverending ballad about something (though Lea sang the hell out of it), and then was pissed off that she sang the lead during the song written by the rest of the group (which was fairly entertaining but not brilliant). And yes, there was too much Blaine singing in the ep too, but at least that was a plot point.
I was happy for Hey Monday that they got covered on Glee, go them! I know a lot of people didn't like Candles, and it's certainly no BICO (their voices didn't quite blend properly), I still enjoyed it (any lack of perfection just shows that Kurt and Blaine spent all their time...practising, and no time working on the song), and thought Raise Your Glass was rollicking good fun...even if thematically it probably should have been a ND song. Actually, the very best thing about Candles was probably teary-eyed Puck practically clasping his hands over his heart by the end.
The only thing I'm interested with the Quinn/Finn/Rachel nonsense is them having Quinn recognise that she's smart and works hard at school and has options - if she wants the future that she sketched out to Rachel, in Lima, that's perfectly alright. But not if she's gonna settle for that when it won't necesarrily make her happy, cause she thinks thats all she can have. Otherwise, YAWNFEST.
I was thinking that with only a few lyric tweaks (or not, given the ridiculousness of a lot of music recently), I'd be unsurprised to hear Hell To The No on the radio tomorrow. All the non-Regionals ND songs were HILARIOUS. TROUTY MOUTH!!

It is becoming more and more apparent that Kurt is the only person on this show who can do The Beatles any justice.
Kurt/Blaine forever the end.

Date: 2011-03-17 11:17 am (UTC)Would he be 17? I thought he was closer to my age than that, but I can't remember what year he was born. Matt P would be super funny, you are not wrong.
