OMG is Ollie seriously moping on the couch, sniffing Christian's tshirt? That could be even more hilarious than Reid's pillow cuddling on the couch, except for how that was Reid, and is therefore more awesome automatically. Does Olli have Magic Lips - one kiss and *boom* someone falls for him, even preiviously-thought-to-be-straight guys? And does Christian look a little like Kris Allen to anyone else?

Why yes, I have gotten fed-up with both ATWT and even Emmerdale (to a lesser extent) pissing me off, and have finally started checking out the European soaps for comparison, starting with Verbotene Liebe. And having started by watching a playlist of just Christian and Ollie's kisses, holy crap they put the vast majority of shows from anywhere to shame. It's still news if you get a single gay or lesbian kiss on Home and Away or Neighbours, which air in a similar early evening timeslot here as Verbotene Liebe does in Germany.

I'm also working my way through Alice Horton's death and funeral on Days *sniff*. I haven't watched it in years, but having grown up on it, watching it with my own grandmother, I can't not watch the end of this era.

AWZ shits all over Verbotene Liebe, no matter how cute Ollie & Christian are. I also recommend El Cor de la Ciutat, which has finished but is still a lot of fun.

I'm actually enjoying Emmerdale. I like that it's not a romance story.

Emmerdale is just giving me the shits because a) the lack of any sort of intimate interaction between Aaron and Jackson (it doesn't have to be a big romance! Just show us that they're more than just mates when they do interact!), its reminding me horribly of the US daytime soaps, and b) the drugs storyline, because the girl who plays Holly is such a terrible actress.

But yes, I like that it isn't a big sweeping love-of-a-lifetime romance, and I'm mostly about Aaron's familial-and-friendship relationships (OMG Paddy ♥).

AWZ has figure skating, right? I'll get there :) I am so tempted to do a Soaps are really gay presentation at get__together if I go, but I feel it'd be horribly self-indulgent, even more so than my stuff normally is, heh.

See, I think the lack of intimacy between Aaron and Jackson makes sense in the context of who Aaron is as a character and what he's just been through. I wouldn't believe it if Aaron was comfortable with displays of affection (and he really doesn't have them with anyone), and it makes sense that Jackson would be hesitant to initiate physical affection in public given that last time Aaron clobbered him. And we haven't seen them in private together since they slept together. I think an increase in intimate interaction will probably be a feature of the next arc in Aaron's story.

The drug thing is tedious, but I just figure it's the nature of soaps. Aaron was such a front line story for so long it's not surprising they're putting him in the background for a bit.

Well, if you ever want some advice on the soaps, hit me up - I've watched just about all of them at some point.

Oh, public intimacy would be totally out of character, and yeah, we definitely need private scenes between them, but it just feels to me that even the quality of their public interaction is...off, in the most recent eps. If there was more decent fanfic, I'd probably feel the lack of it on the show less ;)

Aaron can't always be driving storyline, but I'd much rather he was supporting a storyline with his family (except for how at least this way we're getting some Adam scenes - the lack of on-screen reaction from Adam to Aaron and Jackson getting together was part of my disappointment with the show).

Despite my grumbling, it's still a long way ahead of As the World Turns, in terms of storyline! And even though he's not the centre of the storyline, Aaron is still getting more screentime than Luke and Reid *headdesk*.

They go through spurts of good stuff and then a few months of nothing special, once the whole "get together" drama is established. But when they're good, it's just fantastic.
