Eeeeee! MTV Grabber from http://www.grabtoolz.com/ (though I actually saved it from brothersoft.com) works a treat at saving MTV videos, and it saved some Idol in 60 Seconds videos for me even though the site still tells me they aren't available anymore!

I downloaded it from brothersoft.com. As far as I know, it is freeware.
