I'd like to blame everyone for talking non-stop about Adam Lambert on American Idol. I'm not a viewer of Idol shows (apart from a brief flirtation with one season of Australian Idol). But I'd checked out a couple of videos during the season when they were mentioned on my f-list. The other weekend, I had some time and bandwidth to kill, so I downloaded all of Adam's performances, and watched a few interview things, and yes, he's hot and fabulous and I really like his voice (though he needs learn to step away from the screechiness - reminds me of Christina Aguilera, just because you can sing something doesn't mean you should).

But what I've really lost my heart to is Idolatory on ew.com - I've watched the entire season. I think I found my way to the Adam interview (which was great) and then checked out the show. Now that's how you watch American Idol - with bitchy funny commentary, and scenes from movies appropriately subtitled interspersed throughtout. Put the go in Gokey! Strike a blow for possibly gay rights!

And inspired by their adoration of her (save the rocker!) and the clips I saw, I downloaded all of Allison Iraheta's songs, and how fucking awesome is she? How does a 17 year old have a voice like that? She's battling with Adam in my affections - they need to do many more duets. And her singing with Cyndi Lauper in the finale was awesome.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has fallen victim to American Idol and the Adam Lambert/Allison Iraheta/Kris Allen phenomenon.

If you didn't grab anything of Kris's, I highly recommend She Works Hard for the Money, Ain't No Sunshine and Heartless.

I've got all the studio versions of their songs, I'll have to put Kris on my mp3 player too.

Though I'm thinking of making live mp3s, some of the Adam performances I definitely like the live versions over the studio ones. The live version of Black or White had pitch issues, but I love the anger in his voice.

Some of the live versions are definitely better, especially if you don't like too much production.

I've got access to good videos of the performances and stuff, but if you had clips of Adam or Allison from anything pre-top 13, that'd be great. I've seen some of it, here and there, but not all.

I don't know, but it happened to me too. I haven't even finished this season's Idolatry though, because the videos keep freezing.

I have, however, been driven to reminisce about old Australian Idol moments I loved.

Yay! Glad you came around. To be honest, without Adam or Allison, this season would have sucked majorly. Luckily, we have the Kradam bromance and their little kid sister Allison that more than made up for Gokey and the other d-bag Sarver.

Idolatry is the best invention ever. I love watching their snarky reactions to all of it! They make Idol worth watching when sometimes it is not. LOL.

My browser does the annoying thing sometimes where it'll show youtube and other flash videos on my f-list as a different video to what the person has posted. Normally something I've watched. So for days it looked like everyone on my f-list was posting about Adam's bunk preference, it was hilarious.

Like he's in a musical about funky white people, with one hand on his squirrel, making strange plosive sounds with his mouth, twirling on the stage, twisting the time signature around and around like it's stuck in a Topsy Tail, screaming on his knees he will sing it. It's kind of like church, if church were a discotheque full of snakes. At the end he is so out of control he's like WOOOOO! Not of his own volition, and Paula is actually on her stomach wriggling toward him.

So I see :D

I love Adam, and I am equally excited to see what Alison does after the AI tour this summer. I want her to front a rock band that doesn't have her name attached. I just want her to be a super successful rock chick. We need more of those!
