I discovered this morning that my one piece swimming costume is unwearable (a bit big and loose, mostly due to the material perishing). My two piece (tankini style) is still okay, but not great for doing laps in, which is why I was digging out the other one. I want to do some swimming before going north in June.

This means I really need to buy another costume. I hate shopping for swimming costumes. Yeah, I know, don't we all :\ Plus, this is totally the wrong time of year to be looking.

Why can't I find a place that stocks a range of swimmers with freaking underwire? Preferably with comfy straps, and not in hideous colours/patterns, and not insultingly expensive. The lack of decent swimwear for women with more than small/medium boobs makes me want to go into business making and selling it.

If Sydneysiders have any suggestions of places I can try, I'd appreciate it.

You'll be lucky to find anywhere other than sports/specialised swimwear shops stocking any kind of swimwear at this time of the year. There are a couple of online stores that have lingerie and swimwear for bigger boobs, if you're interested in that.

Where are you off to in June?

My sister and I are going to Port Douglas for a week! Need to do some swimming exercise before we go snorkelling :)

Any suggestions are good, I'm starting to look around for specialised places at the moment. I was in Rebel Sports today, buying a cap and goggles, but they only stock Speedos and the like, which have zero support. Myers only had a big jumbled pile of leftovers from summer, and Seafolly didn't have anything suitable (the only one piece with support was a bit lowcut for doing anything energetic in it - I'd be afraid of wardrobe malfunction during diving).

There's a small but decent range here. The Freya range on that page comes highly recommended.

Also, Brava (Melbourne) has an online store and I rather like this one. Hope this helps.

Btw, am very jealous of you getting to go to Port Douglas in June. Just the thing for the winter blues.

My preference would be able to try things on, but at least there are many pretty and practical-looking ones online, so that gives me hope (and a backup plan *g*).

I can't wait for Port Douglas! It's been over 10 years since I've been to the reef, and loved it so much. And while it won't be summery warm, it'll should still be much nicer than Sydney in June.

Normally I'd be going skiing in August, but that ain't happening due to study, so Port Douglas is my holiday before committing my life away for the next two years :\

Do you know about Bravissimo? They're quick and flattering and possibly the BEST THING EVER for one's boobies.

I get all my bras and togs from there and their delivery is really quick.

Man, there are some nice things on there. I really want to find some stuff in Sydney shops, to try them on, but if I can't, at least there are online stores to fall back on! :)

It's bloody brilliant. And I understand the trying on thing, but they do do returns...

Was going to suggest them too - am in London at the moment and was recommended by a friend to go there. Best thing ever, and will never look anywhere else!!

Otherwise you could try doing what I usually do - wear an old bra under your tankini top

My tankini has underwire support, that's not an issue.

no, in a normal country they're always called 'togs' *tee hee*

some parts of Australia call them togs, other parts it is swimmers, cossies or bathers.

mmm, cossies I've heard lots = international speakers don't understand cossies though

it's one of the few distinct regionalisms in Australia - swimmers and cossies in some parts of the country (that's what I call them), togs or bathers in other parts.

I swear by the cossies at Sue Rice. Shop is in Glebe. Not cheap, up around the 160-200 range. Its the first time in about 15 years I've found a non-underwire swimsuit I can swim in & wear, they say they go up to an E cup but I'm currently HH and I fit. They do both underwire and non.
For serious swimming I like the Andrea, Abigail or Sofia and for just hanging out swimming I like Marilyn (all in the bust support section).
Good luck!!!

I'd found their site in my googling around, so good to have an actual rec for them, I'll have to check them out! Thank you :)
