(FINALLY this zip file has finished uploading - it's taken days, because it'd interrupt every couple of meg, ugh. Problem is at my end though, not the website, so downloads should be fine).
The floor was disturbingly sticky (seriously, even for a club venue) and the show started nearly an hour late, but it was so so so worth it :) The Metro has a dancefloor at the front and tiered levels at the back, we (
hnix,
alasen, my brother, sister-in-law and I) were about a bit over halfway up on them (the raised area including seating at the side was VIP only this time). Not at the very front of the row, but I could see between the people in front just fine. It was packed (unsurprisingly), and I don't know who was having a better time, the crowd or Pink and her band.
My videos are on youtube (playlist, and I recommend watching in HQ if available) or can be downloaded as avi files.

There were some technical problems, including some impressive feedback a couple of times, including aborting the start of one song, and Pink was not happy with what she was hearing through the monitors (at one point, she suggested they do the show without them, the crowd cheered loudly, and she was all "but it's really hard without"). But seriously, they didn't detract from the awesomeness. Pink was energetic, bouncy, sounded awesome, giggled, cracked jokes and was just so fucking adorable that I just wanted to put her in my pocket and take her home :) She popped down into the crowd and climbed around one the sides of the stage.
She completely fucked up the beginning of Get The Party Started, forgetting the words and losing her place. I got video of her being all "what's the fucking words again? this is one of my oldest songs! oh, you guys sing it".

Later, she forgot the words to starting one of the new songs she performed, and was joking that "some of you know the new ones, how does this one start?" and someone right at the front of the crowd had lyrics with them! Pink had kind of a WTF? look on her face, but took the lyrics, was all "yay, I was right" and then kept them.
She performed Heartbreaker, a b-side that I'd never heard before, and said it was the first time she'd done a full proper performance. At the end, she was like "yeah, that sucked, never gonna do that again" (which may be more about the song being about Carey from before they were married, apparently).

At one point, maybe after she took off her jacket, someone was yelling "take it off!" at her, and Pink was "take it off? YOU TAKE IT OFF!" and when they continued yelling, she was "no, U FIRST". Also, when she was talking about the monitor problem, she was telling her singers that all she could hear was one particular guy in the front row, pointing him out.
Pink told the crowd, while drinking some, how she'd developed a love for VB in Australia (a terrible beer, but at least it isn't Fosters) and had taken 24 cases back to LA after her last visit. "My friends were so jealous". In brilliant timing, she then performed Sober :)

During Please Don't Leave Me, she held up her fingers crossed during the "I've never been this nasty" line. I wish I could remember the context of her claiming "I'm fragile" (while looking anything but *g*) though.
Fans were giving her a number of things during the show, including a lovely picture of her late dog (way to bum her out a bit, but she looked really touched too), but it was a small toy kookaburra (Australian native bird) that really caused the fun. Pink was "what's this? I've never seen one of these" and part of the crowd near the front started singing the Kookaburra song. Pink got really confused, "this bird has its own song? But I don't know it and I know every song! I'll have to learn it for the tour next year", and of course, the entire club starts singing it again, because if there's one thing Aussies like, it's inflicting childhood songs on non-Aussies (see also: Highlander con goers singing Happy Little Vegemites to the guests) :D Pink was "I'm not going to learn it tonight! How do you all know it, is it your national anthem? Don't try to pretend you actually know your anthem" but somehow, despite this provocation, she escaped a rendition of Advance Australia Fair.

When she was introducing Dear Mr President, she was musing that she won't be able to perform it for much longer, then stopped to consider that she doesn't have any shows in the next couple of weeks, so that this probably would be her last time performing it. She expressed her wish not to have to write another "what would I do? Dear Sarah Palin? Dear Senator *snore*).
Introducing a cover of Killing Me Softly, she cracked me up so much. She hadn't identified the song and was explaining why she wanted to do it. "It's my favourite song, well no, not my favourite, I have lots of favourites, but I really really like it, I like it a bit, actually I don't like it, I don't know why we're doing this".

Pink had popped down the front of the crowd a couple of times, but towards the end of the show, she performed Gnarls Barkley's Crazy, and decided to drive security nuts. Halfway into the song, she decided to go through the crowd and perform (and dance a little) on the bar at the side of the dancefloor. Security was very >:( but it was awesome. (Sorry about the crappy camerawork at times)
Hope the concert calls I made came through sounding okay :)

Date: 2008-10-25 09:50 pm (UTC)I stopped by the Sunrise performance on my way to work on Friday - so many people, I could only catch a few glimpses of her :) I wonder if this tour will end up being even bigger than last time.
