iibnf came over and she, my sister and I watched SGA (plus parts of Casanova, Iron Chef, Batman Begins and various other adventures in channel-surfing). By the way, my sister doesn't think Sheppard is gay, she thinks he's not interested in men or women. I think she might be a John/Atlantis fan. But iibnf said that Sheppard is saving himself for Johnny Cash.
me: if Johnny Cash were starting out in music now, he'd get called emo. Shot a man in Reno, yeah whatever you big try hard.
iibnf: he'd be The Man in Black...Eyeliner

I thought the plot of this was very by-the-numbers, and we called the outcome in the first few minutes.

But yay for Ronon getting screentime, yay for a sweet Sam and Teal'c scene (in my head, Daniel and Vala are too busy MAKING BABIES to say bye, not sure about Cam), yay for Rodney stealing Ronon's stuff (Ronon should have been like "I wasn't dead, you know!", but that could just be because of my friends' running gags about taking each others stuff). Actually, the whole set-dressing of Ronon's room was fucking hilarious. From the Klingon metal band artwork (tm iibnf) to all the random instruments (drums, xylophone, didgeridoo - and if Ronon's mastered circular breathing, you better believe John would want to keep him around), it really made us go WTF? and we had to rewind to actually listen to the dialogue.

Yay for John being such a cockblocker again? That was...weird. And as much as I like Sam, these awkward unfunny-to-me scenes of Rodney looking stupid are exactly why I was wary of her joining the cast. Hopefully they'll tone it down in future. Plus, why would Rodney be excited about getting Elizabeth's job? Apart from the egotrip of being offered it, there's no way he'd want it. And really, there's no way Sam would actually want it, she wouldn't have time to actually do science-y stuff.

The fight sequences were quite cool. But when Ronon was all "let's finish this like Satedans!" and they all start undoing their belts, all I could think was "...pantsless?"

There was a nice little scene where Sam's getting ready to leave for Atlantis, and Teal'c was all "SG1 will never be far away if you need us" and a hug.

My SGA love has waned a fair bit, I hope people are right about next week's episode being good.
