Back from NZ! Had a fantastic time, many many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] arysteia for hosting [livejournal.com profile] alasen and I, and to [livejournal.com profile] china_shop for hosting a great group of fangirls for [livejournal.com profile] get__together.

I jinxed myself. Mentioned to people during the weekend that I must buy a external hard drive, to replace my secondary internal which had been causing me concern. Have come back to a dead drive. Have a backup of it from the beginning of the year, I think, so hopefully there won't be too much lost if I can't get data off it. The tv shows I'd been storing on there have mostly been backed up to dvd, and my pop footage folders(which are the most important things to me on the drive - about 120 gig) hasn't been updated that much this year, and a bunch of what I have downloaded is still on the other drive.

So tired, and while I saw SGA (in fangirl company, which made is always better *g*) on the weekend, still haven't seen any other new episodes of shows. And I have an essay to write by Friday, blergh. Skimmed back to skip=300, but I don't think that's everything since mid last week.

(Sitting in a draft for more than a week) - from Joey's myspace:
And since the Bee is such a hugh success I am hosting the singing bee version in Australia!!! I shoot 8 episodes in oct there so I hope it gets picked up for more !!
Sadly (for me), it's being filmed at Channel 9 in Melbourne.

There are data recovery companies that could pull stuff off if you can't live without stuff on the disk...

That Joey thing is being advertised here now. Seems to me the best way to test people is to make them sing Beck songs.

I don't think I'd be able to justify the cost for stuff that'll be lost (stuff related to tv shows, songvids etc).

I had it done for work a few times when it cost $50 to $90 to get stuff off a disk, but that was ... 1992?

Yeah, stuff for my sister's work recently was in the hundreds of dollars per hard drive. I might look into it once I have a chance to see what's in the backup.

Also, my Virgin sim card doesn't work in my phone, which has been a bit of a fucking nuisance, and I didn't have a chance to do anything about it before I went away.

Drop me a line if you need to replace any sort of footage. :)

The problem is gonna be determining what I'm missing firstly, but thanks :) You're one of the reasons I'm not freaking too badly over this *g*.

*hugs* It's always fairly devastating when you lose a driveful of stuff. Also, need opinions on this, because pat and I are sick of certain places online.

Sounds like a good idea!

Welcome back!

I'm sorry about your hard drive - I know your pain. :( If you are going to buy an external hard drive, I highly recommend the Seagate FreeAgent. Mine's 500GB and it's magnificent. It also comes with a long warranty and a pulsing yellow light. I got mine a couple months ago and I've only filled a third of it.

Thanks for the tip, but I couldn't pass up the Maxtor 500gig as my usual computer place had it on a good price. Hopefully it'll be nearly as good :)
