Summer of Like

I was going to post this in bandfandom_ref, but chickened out - where did the phrase "Summer of Like" originate?

I really do need to start writing down all the more substantial bandom-related questions that keep occurring to me WHEN I'M NOT IN FRONT OF THE COMPUTER. So many things that I'd like to know, but I've now forgotten that I wanted to ask.

Do you know, I don't really know. It refers to the whole Mikey/Pete thing during Warped, obviously, and how it almost went beyond subtext to canon, the various references of Mikey in Pete's blog and such, but without actual confirmation of the relationship beyond friendship. I have no idea how or when the phrase was coined though.

Yeah, what made me ask was that I read it in a story, as in one of the guys refering to that time period as the Summer of Like. I'm fairly sure that it was just careless writing, using a fannish term, but made me realise I didn't know the etymology of the term *g*.

Yay, now we know! Except, given this is Pete, was the song working-title because of fandom? ;)
