According to
melpemone, it's traditional to note this.

I'm hoping that I didn't accidentally skip 100 pages in there, that's a bit fast, took me about 5 hours to read OOTP I think. Can't remember with HBP, but I bought it at Chicago airport and I think I finished it just before arriving in LA. (I don't recall reading it at LAX, but I was coming down very sick and can't remember calling my family from there, so who knows.)
I can't believe it's over. I started reading the HP books in 1999 or 2000, when Prisoner of Azkaban was out in hardback. I've never been hugely involved in the fandom (though I was on hpslash when it was the only hp slash mailing list *boggles*), but I've loved the books, and all other crap aside, the HP fandom has been huge and creative and special.
I liked it. There was a lot of new plotlines (all the Deathly Hallows stuff, Dumbledore's family), for the seventh and final book of a series, but she pulled it off pretty well.
Fucking JKR, making me get teary and outright cry a few times. Dobby, Fred, LUPIN!!, Tonks, Colin Creevy, Mad Eye. And Hermione being tortured was pretty nerve-wracking. ETA: OMG, I forgot to mention Hedwig. I kept thinking she'd show up, I really didn't think JKR would kill his fricking bird!
And Snape was doing exactly what I assumed he was doing all along - following Dumbledore's orders. Was so sad that Harry had to find out after Snape had died, and for Snape to die in such an...off-hand way. That's how it felt anyway. OMG, Harry naming his kid after Snape :(
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ NEVILLE SLEW NAGINI!! I was hoping he might actually take out Voldemort (my deepest HP wish), but that was fucking awesome too. And he's Professor of Herbology, how wonderful.
I liked that the Malfoys survived, it was...fitting. Well, mostly for Narcissa and Draco, I hope Lucius got sent to prison to rot. And in my head, Umbridge suffered a gruesome and lingering death off-page.
And are there fixits or different endings online yet? Have the fanfic stories about the adventures and secret romances of the Potter, Weasley and Malfoy kids been started? Of course they must be, because fandom rocks (and is a tad predictable) *g*.
And don't burn the intarwebs down while I'm gone, okay?
