ETA: Heee, congratulations are in order for David Hewlett and his fiancee Jane :)
I keep meaning to post more fannish content that isn't a) episodes, b) pop footage or c) photos of Lance and Reichen. So have some random Who blather.
Just rewatched the first three Dr Who eps that have Captain Jack - "Empty Child", "Doctor Dances" and "Boomtown". Have many many random thoughts, some even plot-related (Cardiff rift!!!), but they are drowned out by my swooning love at Nine/Rose/Jack. They just click so well and so fast, I don't think there's another threesome in any source material that I've felt so strongly about. Yet I've read virtually no fic, hmmm.
I watched Dr Who a fair bit as a kid (Tom Baker for the win!), but have never really been involved in the fandom or rewatched it a lot in the last ten years or more. But when they started making a new Who show, I was excited. I'd liked Paul McGann but hated the 8th Doctor movie, including the relationship with the girl in that. So before I saw any of the 9th Doctor episodes, I was wary about the Nine/Rose comments I saw around. The Doctor doesn't do love interests, my childhood memories yelled!
Heh. If nothing else, "The Doctor Dances" changed my mind. As much as I've enjoyed the Tenth Doctor, I still wish we could have had more Nine, and much more of Nine with Rose *and* Jack. They just...work.
One of my biggest fannish I-only-wish-it-could-happen dream events would be for a Two Doctors ep, with Eccleston and Tennant. And if it had Captain Jack, I'd just die of glee (and he'd be pretty darn happy too). Hell, slap some makeup on McGann and make it a Three Doctors!
Heh, on that pleasant image, I'm off to bed. Need sleep after busy week at work (and I'm not used to working full-time, I've been part-time for the last 6 weeks or so), and I've got a family wedding tomorrow afternoon/evening.

Date: 2007-01-05 06:08 pm (UTC)I don't dislike Ten at all, but I still (still!) miss Nine. Now that Rose is gone, it'll be easier for me to adjust to Ten with a new companion, I think. I totally agree about a Nine/Ten episode! Agggh, I do like them both for different reasons, and I'd love to see them get together somehow to commiserate about Rose (and yes, toss in Captain Jack for good measure!).
Empty Child and The Doctor Dances are just such excellent episodes, imo. They're creepy and funny and the ending just makes me SO happy. "Everybody lives, Rose! Everybody lives!" Wahhh!! I love me some happy, optimistic Nine. sigh.

Date: 2007-01-05 10:14 pm (UTC)While I still have such fondness in my heart for Tom Baker-era Who (with Peter Davidson second), since it's been so long for me, I think Eccleston and Tennant are replacing him as what I think of when someone says Dr Who.
Have you finished watching Torchwood? I've been trying to make sure I don't miss anyone's posts on it, it's one ep I'm definitely interested in the reactions to.

Date: 2007-01-05 10:17 pm (UTC)I think I'm wary of fic because I really don't want to read crap stuff - what we get on the show is just too good to be done badly.

Date: 2007-01-06 05:40 am (UTC)And I'm sure the Beeb is churning through the small intestines of desperate viewers (or was that the plot of a Sapphire & Steel ep?)
