Hahahahahaha! I'm doing some Christmas shopping on JB HiFi's website, and ended up checking out the Atlantis s2 boxset (yes, already out in Australia, 99% certain it doesn't have extras, bah!)

Anyway, on item pages, it links to Other popular titles in this genre. So for SGA that seems to include: Angel, Stargate (fair enough), Futurama (heh), Dawson's Creek (...well I guess Joe was in it), Goodbye Mr Chips (have they seen something on SGA I haven't?), a Jamie Oliver dvd (I think McKay would be happier if there was more cooking in SGA) and Tipping the Velvet.

One is an American scifi action adventure show. The other is a period British drama about lesbians in the 1890s.

WTF? *g*

That would be the genre "Stuff Fangirls Like".

I didn't know so many of us were into Jamie Oliver...

Lesbians didn't exist in Victoria times. So clearly Tipping the Velvet is a scifi AU.

Yep... that's what people think of when they think of me. Logic. Every time.

Hee, it's website logic! I think I've seen Tipping the Velvet on tv at some point - that Nan Astley character seems really familiar. But Goodbye Mr Chips is really cracking me up. *g*

I'd like to see someone's reaction if they bought Tipping the Velvet sight-unseen based on this recommendation.

Yes! Maybe it was this bit that lumped it into the same category with SGA. She's kind of like Sheppard, really. ;)

"Nan realises that she is attracted to women, and not men - and it leads her into a series of adventures."

The box cover says it has commentaries and featurettes - but that may be a lie. I'd wait. Linda's brother is buying a set this weekend, and she said she'd have a look and see if there was anything on it.

I'm prepared to be wrong (but will be shocked! *g*).

Supernatural boxset says it has features, and it doesn't, so I'm certainly not paying just to have them lie like a rug!

The SGA season 2 boxset has all the extras that will be on the R1 release. Commentaries for every episode and various other featurettes. My sister got it on Saturday but I wanted to wait until I knew for sure about the extras, so we rushed home and checked.

I'm deeply disturbed and shocked by this - the world has gone topsy-turvy. Thanks!
