Today, I was lucky enough to watch Hugh Jackman shake his golden-clad ass on stage as the one and only Peter Allen in "The Boy from Oz". squeeeee!!!

I love this show. I saw the original production twice with Todd McKenney (who was brilliant too) and loved it. I got the soundtrack and have listened to it many many times. When they finally got Broadway production of it off the ground with Hugh, I wanted to see him in too so much. Though to be honest, I don't like the American soundtrack as much. Partly its a familiarity thing, partly a song arrangment thing, partly I don't like the women who played Judy Garland and Liza Minelli as much etc.

This was essentially the Australian production, with songs and book. Chrissie Amphlett and Angela Toohey reprising their roles of Judy and Liza (and the original Greg too!), and a huge fabulous cast and staging. It was at the Entertainment Centre - not a great venue, especially for something you're more used to seeing in a theatre, but they filled it well. If I'd had seats like I did for BSB it would have been even more amazing - but they were $500 (not kidding). We were happy with our first tier straight ahead from stage seats, trust me.

It was lavish and spectacular and fucking funny (except when its sad), Hugh was in great voice and worked the crowd like crazy. And damn, as observed in XMen 3, he has a small ass. But it's fiiiiiiine.

The Australian soundtrack with Hugh is out now as well. I saw it in Target yesterday.

It was in a 10000 seat arena rather than a theatre, but he came up the back of the floor for a bit, so we did see him properly :)

EEEE! HUGH!!! That's great that you got to see him perform live. He's so hot and I was surprised by him when I saw him on the Tonys...he's really good at that Broadway thing! :P Glad you enjoyed it!

If you get a chance to see the West End production of "Oklahoma" that they filmed with him, it's really good too :)

That is totally the squee-iest thing that ever squee-d!!!!!! I'm so happy for you! We had horrible seats when I saw him in TBFO on Broadway, and yet it was still one of the more magical, memorable plays I've seen.

It was a 10000 seat arena, not a theatre, so not exactly close or intimate, but still so freaking fabulous :)
