Remember that mama and baby half-grown possum we've had hanging around? We are not going to feed them regularly, I promise. But my mother is a soft-touch (and dad and I are complicit), and I've got the most adorable possum pictures.

Click these last two for big versions if so desired *g*.

Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] stargems, have a great day! :) And I must wish [livejournal.com profile] girl_clone a happy random day, I hope you've had a good one, even though it's nothing particular or anything *g*.

Oh, wow! So close to them. Haven't tried to get close to our visitors.

I love watching them when they're up on their bag legs eating. You can really see their similarity to wallabies.

Haha! I was just about to say the same thing. They're even scarier/grosser when they've been run over by cars. *blechhh* I mean, they wouldn't be so bad if they weren't so damn mean. Ever try approaching one?? They hiss and knarl and are just plain evil.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaack! Possums. Squirrels. They all look like rats with tails to me. Don't mind the phobia. It's the NYCer/subway commuter in me, lol.

Thank you for the birthday wishes. I miss you! I miss boybands and gossip and crack footage. I have to remedy that.

*mwah*

These two (well, the mother more than the little one) are quite brazen. Dad walked out to put some apple on the tree and she was reaching out to him *g*.

You wouldn't see these guys scurrying down the subway.

...

They're so freaking friendly they'd be riding the subway and asking for spare change.

Just wait til October, when the Carter family reality tv show airs. We'll have more crack than we know what to do with ;)

GEEZE those guys are friendly!!!

I mean, mama with young present, and she not only doesn't give a fig about the camera flash, not only does NOT flee human approach, but ACCEPTS FOOD DIRECTLY?!?!

That's insane!! I don't think there's ANY American fauna that would do that! Rare individuals, maybe, but certainly not in general. That's just freakin' amazing.

Then again, they're so cute they can get away with it, apparently. *g*

DUDE! We have possums, too! They come to our kitchen window regularly and we were strictly told NOT to feed them but we can't help ourselves. One of them is very friendly and loves one of my housemates. The baby's kinda shy but so adorable. *loves*

Hmmm, let's see what I've got photos of from my trip last year...

I wasn't feeding them, I obeyed the many signs in Stanley Park, Vancouver (unlike many other people).

We're right on some bush in Sydney, and we've always tried to be good about not feeding the birds and animals, don't want them becoming dependant or too comfy around people (and the many pets around these parts, though our cat was never a threat to anything *g*). But these guys are just too adorable and bold!

HAH.

Yeah. I remember going to the zoo when I was nine or ten, there was a racoon there (even though they're ALL OVER THE PLACE in Chicagoland...) and of course signs saying "Do Not Feed The Animals." I mimed throwing something at it, and the poor critter went insane trying to find the imaginary piece of food. ;)

Damn non-obeying people. Then I felt bad for the poor thing. *g*

It's obvious why people ignore the signs and feed them (apart from the fact that the signs warns that the animals might have rabies!)
