*deep breathes*
Mar. 17th, 2006 08:05 pmUm, people who have visited my house? You know the nice metal garage door we have, at the bottom of our short sloping driveway? (Everyone else will have to try and imagine it *g*).
It's kind of...bent. Or maybe mangled would be a better word. Yeah, mangled.
A few minutes ago, as I sat here backing up my website to move it, there was suddenly an incredibly loud echoing BANG! I thought it came from the garage, but my sister ran up stairs checking on mum, so I did too. Fortunately, it had nothing to with her, so they wondered if it was from next door. I was sure it had come from (or maybe near) the garage, so I was on my way back down to check, when I got sidetracked checking it wasn't from the laundry (it wasn't).
Then I hear my sister and dad outside saying something about the car (we'd left my car parked in the driveway after we got back from picking up pizza - it doesn't get parked in the garage, mum and dad's car does, and my sister's car). All I can think is that a branch fell off the gumtree onto it or something. But when I get outside, there's no car.
Oh wait, there it is.
Smashed against the now-mangled garage door.
Ohmygodohmygod.
Sister and I rush back inside and into garage, to check on the other cars (it's not a very deep garage, there's little room between the door and the cars when the door is shut).
Fortunately, mum and dad's car seems to have escaped unscathed (yay for towbars, I think that helped keep the door away from it), while my sister's car is slightly scratched. My car is probably worst off, but it's still hardly noticeable, though as the bonnet looks out of alignment, it'll probably be far more expensive than the dents look.
Ok, worst off is probably the garage door, it's gonna have to be replaced. Though we can get it opened and closed, surprisingly.
I was a bit put out, when after staring at the scene in shock, mum turns to me "Oh Lyn..."
HEY, I WASN'T THE LAST TO DRIVE IT! I WASN'T THE ONE TO PARK IT, IT WAS MY SISTER! I know it's a good assumption to make, but when we go pick up dinner, I'm always the one who gets out while someone else drives (I don't know why...)
I'm a bit nervous about driving the car anywhere though, cause while she didn't put it in park (my sister drives a manual these days, so is out of habit of having a PARK to put it in), she's pretty sure she did pull the handbrake right up. And the car wasn't really on the sloping part of the driveway, and it took an hour after we got back for it to roll. Weird.
Have burnt the latest VM to disc for my sister and I to watch, and try and settle our nerves.
