this is the pre-concert report

erilynDammit, none of the other girls have posted their reports yet (apart from ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
isetadrift's great post), I was hoping to crib from them more *g*. So you get stuck with my boring, incoherent, non-chronological descriptions.
Flight up was enlivened by very amusing flight attendants (and one who wasn't sure where we were flying). My first Virgin Blue flight definitely gets two thumbs up - I particularly like being able to print out your own boarding passes at home, though it feels dodgy. Met up withsinden and indybrat, and ventured out to our intrepid hosts' place (thank you so much for housing and feeding us!) Socialised, then Lex and I ventured into the city, so she could see a little of Brisbane. Mostly, this consisted of King George Square (complete with haranguing bible dude), Queen St Mall, and the hotel the Boys were supposed to be staying at (turned out they changed to another at the last minute, but it was in a really pretty area on the river). We then caught the train out to the boondocks aka the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. No, seriously, we saw livestock on the way there, and then there's a long trek through bush (past a large pond) to get there. Got out there just after three.
We hung out with lots of random fans, and even a couple Lex knew through WW. Really nice people on the whole (the NZ fans were crazy fun), and much fun was had. A bunch of us staked out the rear carpark that the Boys would be coming in to, complete with one old, funny security guy. Of course, the downside was not a lot of shade, and bitey bitey ants. Which hurt a lot. Then we got a call to come around the front, so we missed the Boys arriving, but they didn't stop so we didn't miss out. Unsurprisingly, they were very late. So we joined in the general milling around, with the many many people who were also trying to get into soundcheck. Eventually, they let the actual passholders into the lobby, and we stood outside jealously (of the airconditioning and shelter *g*). Drew was being a tease about letting people in - one winner had brought two friends, and he was telling the girls they'd have to do a dance-off to decide which one, but let them both in of course. He let people in gradually, then finally it was decided just to let us all in. Yay! Mind you, by this point it was well after 4:30pm, the supposed starting time. I got an wristband though - I asked Drew for one of the spares as a souvenir, and Keith was like "You just got let in and now you want a souvenir too?" and I was just like "Yup!"
The actual starting time was after 5, and we were up front, to the side. Not witheponymous, alasen, indybrat and hnix cause we thought we might have got beaten if we'd tried to join them further up the queue by actual passholders *g*. Conveniently, we were directly in front of Nick (who was drumming when we came in) and Brian was near him. Nick was wearing his "What's crackin" tshirt, nearly killing Lex. I was surprisingly calm, it was totally like being in other people's pictures, the Boys were even wearing the same outfits. Brian is adorable and I couldn't love him more if I tried. Seriously, he's constantly goofy and funny and sweet and wonderful. When they were asked about when they'll tour NZ, he started singing "Tomorrow, tomorrow" from Annie. It was hard to stop watching him, cause you'd keep missing things. It was a little shortened, because of the late start, but we got Incomplete and JWYTK (with Nick singing sphynkter instead of picture) and the Dave Brown song (hoe-down version, complete with Brian doing a jig) and some rather silly questions and singing Happy Birthday for Nick (prompted by a little girl). Nick almost gave us his guitar pick (seriously, leaning down to us), but he ended up tossing it to some other little girls (like 8 years old) behind us. Damn little kids ;) Nick got given a decorative toilet seat, that amused him and Howie greatly. No group photo op posing though, which was sad, cause Kevin was at the piano the entire time and AJ didn't come over our way. But still, much fun, especially for Brian ::hearts::

Date: 2006-01-29 10:27 am (UTC)It's so good reading this and I was telling my friend yesterday that I hoped you guys would get into sound check. Haha! Someone gave Nick a toilet seat? Isn't hilarious. But it sounds like sound check was an awesome time even if it was short. Pity about no group posing that could of been a lot of fun. Isn't Brian something I didn't know till last night just how animated he really is. He completely stole the show for me so much energy!
I hope the rest of your concerts keeping going along the same way!

Can't wait to see your pictures and stuff. I am still in "recovery" mode for BSB, those boys tend to leave you wanting more, sigh.
