I love Ikea. We have a nice new desk for the computer and assorted peripheral devices, which is at a better height too (the desk has adjustable legs!). And the new chair is so much more comfortable and supportive than the ancient one we were using before - and it was the cheapest of the three we seriously contemplated.

I might treat myself to a new keyboard sometime soon, as they're fairly inexpensive. This one works fine, but there's three years of accumulated crud, despite semi-regular cleaning.

Speaking of cleaning, it was good opportunity to attack the dust and cobwebs behind and under the old desks, ewww. We're not wallowing in our own filth here, but it'd be hard to prove that looking at the mess that was here earlier. Now to figure out what we're doing with the two desks that have just become unemployed...

I just bought a new keyboard and OMG, does it make a difference! My old one had crumbs and shit all over it.

The real treat we'd like to get ourselves is a flatscreen monitor, but the one we have works perfectly well and is good quality - it just takes up so much room on the desk and its hard to get it a decent distance from yourself.

But I think a new keyboard is more likely in the near future *g*.

I had to get behind the desk a few days ago when I took my computer into the shop, and oh man, the dust and stuff that was unearthed was horrible!

They do attract the dust bunnies like nothing else.

oh yeah. dust and goobies. what a mess. but yay for ikea! I got a new keyboard fairly recently, mostly because I always quickly end up rubbing off the letters on the keys, and since no one else can touch type, it's a pain -- particularly for flash. so we found a keyboard where the letters are actualy clear plastic that lets light through -- there's a blue light coming from underneath.

I'm like you though, I want a flatscreen. kind of idly hoping for my birthday, but I doubt it happens. one of these days, though! :)

I feel bad about wanting a flatscreen, this is a nice monitor, but oh! the room it takes up *g*.

And that keyboard sounds very cool.

i don't feel guilty per se, because they really are getting cheap (i keep checking newegg.com and waaaanting ;) ) and I just want something lighter and that doesn't take up much space. maybe mother's day :)
