It totally counts as hunting and gathering if you're the one to go up to the new local thai restaurant and order the food, right? And its pretty good food, and damn good value (under $12 per person for the four of us, and oodles left over), so I'm patting myself on the back for that choice *g*. Though the leftovers might be partly because we went out to yum cha for mum's birthday and were still a bit full from that...
I saw the new movie of Pride and Prejudice last night with my parents. I adore the book, and love the 1995 BBC production with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth, but also enjoy the earlier BBC production and the terribly inaccurate Greer Garson/Laurence Olivier movie (which I grew up watching). So I'm open to other interpretations. And I enjoyed it. The casting and setting are very good, though Bingley is way more of a gormless twit than I see him as. It's probably the most...gritty, in terms of day to day life. My only real problems were the breakneck speed (including dialogue being a bit too rushed), particularly of the first half. While they had a lot to fit into under two hours, there was some very drawn out "contemplative" stuff in the second half that could have been shortened. And there was some terribly unsubtle direction/camera-work. But on the whole, while it's not the equal of the BBC version (and how could it - two hours vs five?), its very enjoyable :)
I haven't had a chance to comment in them all, but I've been enjoying all the Nsync anniversary posts so much (and getting moved nearly to tears by some of them). It's been great, so a global thank you to everyone who's posted or commented or celebrated.
And if you've got some spare cash, can I pimp on behalf of
nsync_10? This is a fabulous fan campaign to organise an ad in Billboard magazine marking Nsync's 10th anniversary, on behalf of Nsync fans around the world. It's getting close to enough for a full page colour ad, which would be great. It's very easy to donate, and any amount helps, but the deadline is approaching :)
Here's somebribery inducements to donate if you can. And to carry on the celebrations another day *g*.
Nsync Live
+ Walmart Concert (1998?) - 19 meg
Babies! Performing in the hot hot Walmart parking lot, starting all over again in building up their fanbase in the US.
+ Tonight Show: Tearin Up My Heart - 42 meg
Such enormous coats and baggy pants - it looks like they stole a basketball teams clothes or something.
+ Top of the Pops: It's Gonna Be Me - 31 meg
They all look and sound so good.
+ TRL: complete rehearsal of Pop - 15 meg
God, Lance is so hot in this footage. And it's so interesting to see the rehearsal in the empty stadium, compared to how the full performance looks.
+ Clips from Pop Odyssey tour from Steve Fatone's company - 15 meg
Slightly different footage in most cases than what's on the dvd.
