I really enjoyed both these episodes, among the best of the second season so far for me.

Everyone has raved about the team, McKay/Sheppard and Teyla/Ronon interaction and banter in Aurora, and for good reason. I think I had a silly grin on my face for the entire show.

Lost Boys was damn good too. McKay seems rather inexplicably pissy early on, much like Sheppard in Runner, but I love him mad and swearing at Ford. I love the tension between Ford and Ronon, are they gonna throw down about who loves Sheppard more? The chemistry between Ronon and Teyla is incredible. I liked that Teyla felt great on the enzyme but worried about the addiction aspect. Milking the Wraith is creepy.

There is so a hundred h/c stories being written about what those guards are going to do to Rodney, aren't there? Ford had to go get himself a cute geek, just so he could be like Sheppard. However, the guys hair reminded me so much of Nick Carter I kept cracking up.

I watched this with sinden, and our simultaneous reaction to the completely gratuitous (not that I'm complaining) Sheppard crotch shot was hysterical. Also...
me: Rodney doesn't like pot, it's too organic for him.
sin: he prefers the cocaine he made in the lab.
both: that would explain his love of amphetamines.

Lorne is cool and practical and deals with Weir much better than Sheppard does. He can stay. I didn't think I could love Sheppard more, but his R2 joke proved me wrong (though he does seem to take the forced drugging of Teyla and Ronon not that seriously).

I may incur the wrath of some friends, but part of what made the episodes so enjoyable for me was the lack of Beckett. I haven't liked the guy nearly as much this season, maybe because he's been at the heart of the bullshit pseudoscience plots that I've hated? Also, they were very light on Weir, and she didn't really annoy me in Lost Boys (her unnecessary hostility towards Caldwell in Aurora was another matter - really, if she's supposed to be a top diplomat/negotiator, it explains so much about American foreign policy).

Ack, I could babble on and on, but I think I'll go rewatch McKay and Sheppard make out in the long grass instead. Can't wait for the second half of the season, not just for the cliffhanger resolution, but these two eps lifted my love of the show again.

No, I agree. I'm against the whole Beckett-as-main-character thing. Besides hating his "science" plots, I also think they make Rodney more annoying and whiny when they are in scenes together to make Beckett look better (or at least different from McKay).

This has been me problem with Weir from the get-go of the series. I actually just saw the SG-1 episode New Order today which has Torrie as Weir and she wasn't nearly half as bad as a leader as she is in Atlantis. I don't know what her deal is, but she's not working for me on this show.

To say Torri is second in the opening credits, she sure doesn't feature much in the show. Can you say "Pete Ross II"? She's there, but there are times where her character doesn't add much (if anything to the scene). Surely they could develop her character a bit more, flesh her out, make her more likeable? In Intruder when Simon told Weir about his new woman all I could think was "Burn". Not good.

Has Weir had an episode where it's all about her since the one where she was waaaaaaaaaay old?

Nope, and a lot of the time she's barely been in a lot of the eps (not that I mind). The only sympathy I had for her in Intruder is that he didn't just tell her straight away, why dance around it?

Yes, that's it! Plus I think there was spillover of my dislike of Cadman in Duet onto him ;)

I haven't seen New Order yet, but I certainly liked Original!Weir in Lost City.
