Same-sex marriage in California

I haven't seen this mentioned on my friendslist, the California Legislature became the first legislative body in the US to allow same-sex marriages.
Will it become law? Is it likely that Schwarzenegger will refuse to sign it, and what happens then?
Congrats to California if it does pass!

Date: 2005-09-08 06:26 am (UTC)The vote made the Assembly the first legislative body in the nation to approve same-sex marriage. Gay-marriage licenses in Massachusetts and civil unions in Vermont were granted through court rulings.
I thought they didn't call them marriages in Vermont, but I was wrong about the term, they call it civil unions.
