erilynIt is very lovely here, apart from lack of signposting, drivers who don't know what indicators are for, and my uncomfortable, extremely creaky bed (am putting mattress on floor tonight).
We don't have accommodation for the next 4 nights yet. Ooops.

Date: 2002-09-13 06:54 am (UTC)If you're in Rome, do me a favour ;-) . Go to the port at Fumicino, and check out the restaurants along the wharf. There's a really large and well lit one on a corner. Have dinner, and order the Spaghetti Aragosta. And *enjoy*.
That's been my favourite meal ever ever. *g*

Date: 2002-09-13 08:27 am (UTC)You'll laugh, but I had only two days in Rome. I was only there long enough to lick and run. I still weep over it, as Rome is a city that should be savoured as long a time as possible. Also, I was suffering from a travel stomach bug I picked up in the middle east, so my culinary ventures in Rome itself were relegated to what bathrooms the restaurants offered *g*.
The lobster spaghetti in the seaport was incredibly memorable though. A simple enough dish, but not one generally offered in your local Leichhardt taverna. I'm not a fishy-fan, but even the fritto misto, fresh from the dock, had me salivating. It's fresher than you'll get in Sydney, and that's saying something. I've never eaten much shellfish in Aus, but in Italy, I attacked it all with confidence, having watched the fisherman bring their hauls in daily.
I repeat - you lucky, lucky thing *g*. ;-)
