Three weeks til HLWW6! I'm not making it to the con itself this year, but I do want to get together with all the fabulous people who will be in town for it *g*.

In previous years in Brisbane, there's been a slashers gathering for locals and con-goers on the Thursday night, before the con itself got underway. A couple of times, Ned and Leny hosted it at their place. Unfortunately, I can't think of anyone central enough with a suitable place in Sydney (though if someone does or knows someone, that'd be fantastic). Would it be possible to have a bash at the con hotel in Darling Harbour or somewhere around there?

People are welcome to come here if you want something other than hotelish. I'll even cook. There's the balconys for the smokers. It's only 20 minutes by train/walk and maybe 10 by cab at about $15.

That sound fine, though do you think it'd be big enough? There could be quite a bunch of people from the con, and a lot of locals.

It's more the distance from the city, that's an expensive cabride for the con-goers.

The actual con is April 29th-May 1st, the Thursday is April 28th.

Hmm, I doubt I'll make the con thing unfortunately. I'll guess I'll see how the planning goes at work. We just won another contract and are going to be swamped for the next two months.

we can borrow some chairs and there's always cushions and stuff. We'll probably have to kick everybody out by midnight or so -- just because of the flat thing -- but if people come over for dinner, it should be more than enough time. PLus it'll give the locals the ability to get home at a semi-decent hour if they're working the next day. :)
