So, who around here is going to Challenge? A stray Aussie may be in need of a room-mate(s) *g*. Plus, I just want to know who's gonna be there - it'll keep me motivated when I stop in the middle of planning, tally up the costs, and say "what the hell am I doing?"
I haven't booked flights or anything yet, but I'm getting quotes and I've found a Cosmos coach tour out of Vancouver that a) fits around my end of term and beginning of Challenge with several days to spare, and b) visits some of the spots I most want to visit in Western Canada - Glacier National Park, Yoho National Park, Colombia Icefield, Jasper, then a train ride to Prince Rupert, and a days boat cruise down the coast to Vancouver Island. Anyone ever travelled with them or know someone who has? I've never done the big tour thing, and I'm sure it'll have downsides (let's not mention the price), but I'm travelling by myself with limited time, seems the best way to cover a lot of ground.
To make a long story short (too late!) me in Chicago for CFTC is becoming a distinct possiblity. Screw missing the first couple of days of term, I'll catch up! Screw the premium prices for airfares and tours because of travelling in peak season!
Like I said, nothing booked yet, but if I'm gonna do this, I'll try and have it all sorted in the next couple of weeks. I'll aim to be in Chicago probably by the Wednesday, to do some sightseeing. I may stay at a hostel or somewhere for a night or two if I'm going to be there before everyone starts arriving.
Eeeeeek! Am I completely insane? Or only a little?
