I hate drink driving. I really do. Maybe Nick was dumb enough not to realise that having a drink(s) with dinner on top of medication would put him over the limit. Still, so fucking stupid and dangerous.

I hate drunk driving as much as the next person (a friend of mine was nearly killed/seriously injured by a drunk driver and her baby brother WAS killed). But, I hesitate to call Nick DUMB. Smart people make stupid mistakes. What he did wasn't the brightest of moves, but he's going through enough without his "fans" calling him stupid. It was a mistake. Right now, I'm just thankful he wasn't hurt and neither was anyone else.

Heh, I thought any comment I might get would be about being to easy on the guy, that I was making excuses for him. And that's awful about your friends :(

And sorry, but I do think mixing alcohol and medication then driving is pretty dumb, whoever does it. Even if you aren't generally aware that it's a bad thing, doctors, pharmacists and/or labelling on the meds do normally warn about it (however, if he really had no idea about the possible effects, that's really unlucky).

I don't think that he's necessarily a terrible person or an idiot, but it seems to me like he did something stupid (and I particularly use words like this because I can't help thinking about the anti-drink driving campaigns here with "drink drive, you're a bloody idiot" type slogans). Doesn't mean I hate him or aren't a fan anymore, but that's how I feel. I'm a little less annoyed about the whole thing than I was yesterday, as I saw mentioned that he's charged with misdemenour DUI, not a felony, so it must have been fairly low-range, which does make it more possible that he made a mistake (which I really do hope is the case).

I'm really thinking it was a medication thing (and hoping like hell I'm not proven wrong). Usually with stuff like this, "they" LOVE to flash your BAC, which wasn't done. Which is interesting. But yeah, most people know better than to mix meds and alcohol. *thumps Nick*
