erilyn: gabe and mikey's hips (sentinel1)

My day started with cutting a slug out of my cat's matted stomach hair. Yeah, I don't know either. Especially as she gets brushed daily (or she pouts).

But the highlight was getting a 200 gig second hard drive put in this computer. So Much Space! Of course, now I have no excuse not to make a highlights dvd of my parents' 6 hours of holiday footage from when they went to South America last year. I'm so making dad do a lot of the actual capturing.

I'll admit it: I totally looked at airfares to Chicago for Challenge. I couldn't help myself *g*.

And I just saw my senior english teacher on the news, as there was a classroom stabbing at the school where he's now the principal. Shitty reason to see him, but he looked pretty good (the buzz haircut suits him). He was cool. After the author of one of the books we were studying (Peter Goldsworthy, "Maestro") came and gave a talk, the guy showed himself to be such a wanker that my teacher (head of the dept) vowed never to teach the guy's books again.

So there was no new Veronica Mars this week? At least my Lost download is to 50% already. I'm not sure if I've mentioned lately how much I'm enjoying these shows, especially Veronica. I love Weevil!!!1! Which is not a sentence you think you'd ever be saying, but I do! And [livejournal.com profile] hnix is gonna hate me, but I quite liked Logan in last week's episode too. Local friends, if you want some eps of either (or both) shows on disc, I'm always happy to share stuff.

I'm making pizza for dinner. We had it Tuesday night too, and it was so good we decided to do it again tonight. Mmm, homemade ham/pineapple/salami/cabanossi/mushroom /capsicum/onion/artichoke/semidriedtomato and two sorts of cheese pizza...

Summer has definitely arrived, and I need fresh blu-tak for my posters.

Peter Goldsworthy, "Maestro"

Holymarymotherofgod. I LOATHED that fucking book - we were stuck with it too. What a steaming turd of a novel. I'm not surprised the author was a fucktard.

He really really was. He was told that some students had heard him speak before, but he did exactly the same talk, same jokes, everything. During the Q&A he only answered the stupid questions, and he just came across as such a loser.

And I voluntarily read "Honk If You're Jesus" cause the title was intriguing, and he totally copped out on the ending, of course.

I am now going to defriend you, right before I...

cutting a slug out of my cat's matted stomach hair.

CRAWL UNDER THE BED AND NEVER COME OUT AGAIN GAH GAH GAH GAAAAACK.

Meep. How about, not so much liked as was amused by Logan?

And the slug was kind of a relief, cause we didn't know what it was at first, and were wondering if it was a burst abcess or something. But she'd just slept on a slug or something *g*.

amused by is only a very slight improvement.

Are your arms flailing in distress as you run off? Cause that's how I'm picturing it. And laughing, just a little ;p

I've heard from a whole lot that Mars is really good. I might have to check it out. As for Lost, I've dl'ed all the eps, but have still NOT watched them. Over holiday, I'll catch-up! :)

I'm probably enjoying VM even more than Lost, so I'd recommend checking it (of course, YMMV, all in my opinion etc etc *g*).

Lost can be a good show to watch in chunks, so the holiday plan sounds like a good one :)

OT--any news on the new BSB album being leaked?

*needs*

Zip, nada, nothing. The only song leaked in completeness is "Beautiful Woman" and there are two slightly different versions of it, so who knows what the final album version will end up being. I've got them both here. There were some clips from promosquad of dubious quality, both musically and recording, a while back, and then the various bootlegs from House of Blues, Asian tour and Mexico.

They were still recording last month in Sweden with Max Martin, and while the release dates have been all over the place, I'm not holding my breathe for a single before new year, album in Febrary hopefully. Any clips or songs I can find, I'll be sharing (and you'll be on any filter I have to put them on *g*).

Ok, the slug thing kinda amuses me, because I also have a long haired pussy cat, and I know if she had a slug stuck on her, she'd be freaking out.

And, man, I am with you guys on the fucking loathing of that fucking Maestro book. The sex scenes disturbed me, not least because I am a shallow woman and I couldn't help but imagine all the participants as hideous.

We did have John Marsden come to our school and do a talk, and he was fantastic! I was in year 12, he was doing a talk to the year 11's, so a friend of mine and I skipped English to go to it. When the teachers found out we'd wagged to go to see an author talk in our own school library, they were all, "OK... I think this might be one of the weirdest excuses we've ever heard."

Our cat didn't seem to give a damn, though she was very good as dad held her and I struggled to cut it out (its hard to tell where the fur stops and her floppy belly begins *g*).

Maestro was fucking crap. Though I did do a passage out of it for a speech and drama exam, it was a funny bit where his dad talks about bizarre suicides in Darwin. And that is the best damn excuse for wagging ever.

::LOL:: Choc is bad enough when I try to pull the fur off that's hanging out of her mouth!

It's been six years since I read that damn book, and I still have rather violent feelings toward it. It was just so fucking... eh, there are no words. I just hated it.

Our cat is getting old, and doesn't give a damn about much anymore as long as she gets brushed *g*.

There is nothing like the rage engendered by terrible books that you not only had to read, but study, analyse and write endless fucking essays about.

Hmmm... I must admit to being kinda interested in said DVDs.
You all have been talking about the goodness and I'm suitably intrigued.... though dont know if I've already used up my footage quota????

Heh, no, you can have some eps if you want :) I can fit the first half a dozen eps of both shows on one dvd (data dvd, has to be watched on a computer, high quality avi files though). Or I can put a couple of each onto some cds.
