Man Band

For half a decade Boy Bands ruled the airwaves, maintaining a strange hold on their bustling, female audience and just as quickly they faded from the spotlight. Now, all grown up, VH1 has decided to bring members of these teenage heartthrobs together in the new reality series "Man Band." Living together under one roof, five boy band legends including Bryan Abrams (Color Me Badd), Rich Cronin (LFO), Chris Kirkpatrick ('N Sync) and Jeff Timmons (98 Degrees) will be challenged to create new music, a dynamic stage show and then perform as a new pop group -- all of which begs the question "Can lightening strike twice?"

"Man Band" is executive produced by Troy Searer and John Foy for Tijuana Entertainment, Tony Harding and Kennedy for Kandokid Productions and Jim Ackerman for VH1. Christian McLaughlin is the supervising producer and Michael Hirschorn serves as Executive Producer for VH1.

ETA: So who's the fifth guy? JM and I are wracking our brains trying to think of other boybands, and the only possibilites that are occuring to us are Backstreet (if Kevin fucking Richardson does this, we're performing an intervention) or OTOWN!!!

chris thoughts part 2

I've seen that some people are looking forward to the Manband show, and there have been some good points.

Chris on tv + Chris singing = much goodness
entire concept of show = much badness

Can't we just have Chris singing on tv and Chris-eque wacky antics without the other guys or the concept? Why can't he get his own making an album show like Ashlee Simpson or (a more fitting comparison), Ashley Angel? Then I could be looking forward to the show without fearing for my liver...

PS - of course, all my complaining doesn't mean I'm not gonna watch it! I'm freaking addicted to House of Carters after all...

Chris (again, someday I'll stop boggling about this); BSB concert

yay, downloading Heroes already! Fandom rocks :)

Well, I certainly picked a good day not to go to work (I wanted to get over this cold, since being well for classes and exams is more important to me right now than work). It ended up meaning I could spend a couple of hours chatting (and talking) to some of my favourite people about Chris and other random things :) But now I'm sad cause the scenarios we were tossing around will never come to be (and would be far superior to reality) - especially Chris and Kevin deciding to form a pop supergroup and they do it as Rockstar: Popstar or something, where they would totally proceed to make out even more than Tommy Lee and Dave Navarro did.

Actually, if someone wants to write an AU story around that premise, with the various pop boys and girls as contestants, I'm not too proud to grovel.

I did also like my idea that the fifth member of the Manband would actually be one of the original-later-dumped Backstreet Boys (Charles or the other one) or Jason-the-original-other-n-in-Nysnc. Who would of course quit or be dumped right towards the end of the show and replaced with Kevin or Lance, and then never referred to again.
