Narnia, furniture and Cribs

I really enjoyed The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe last night. A lot. It was so well done, the child actors did very well, and my childhood love of the books hasn't been destroyed (in fact, I'm gonna re-read them *g*). Not completely flawless, but damn good, and I'd highly recommend it.

I also had a lovely long chat with Lex this afternoon, who is going to be here in three and a half weeks. Meeep! And I got the greatest card from madame_d - a Sphynkter Christmas card! Thank you so much, I love it :)

Just got back from venturing with dad through the giant Ikea store at Rhodes. We have returned triumphant, with new computer desk and chair. Though claims of triumph should really be held back until we assemble them. Oy. So my online access might be spotty for the next few days while we re-arrange the study.

Oh, this I like a lot

I love Ikea. We have a nice new desk for the computer and assorted peripheral devices, which is at a better height too (the desk has adjustable legs!). And the new chair is so much more comfortable and supportive than the ancient one we were using before - and it was the cheapest of the three we seriously contemplated.

I might treat myself to a new keyboard sometime soon, as they're fairly inexpensive. This one works fine, but there's three years of accumulated crud, despite semi-regular cleaning.

Speaking of cleaning, it was good opportunity to attack the dust and cobwebs behind and under the old desks, ewww. We're not wallowing in our own filth here, but it'd be hard to prove that looking at the mess that was here earlier. Now to figure out what we're doing with the two desks that have just become unemployed...
