I've got some files to share, but the server my site on is being replaced, so access is spotty this evening.
I'd still love to have Due South/Pros/Sentinel/other viewage on Sunday (
weredonut? you still interested?), I just gotta be at church at 5:30pm. I feel the need to insulate myself with lots of talk of naked men rubbing together before then, actually ;) Tomorrow is mum's birthday, so family stuff, however nice, isn't exactly the sort of fortification I need before entering a church. And I don't actually have a present for her, cause we (the kids) aren't organised (I think we're gonna pay for a weekend away for her and dad). I did bring her home some crappy little flowers I bought, but dad's huge-ass arrangement had arrived already, making mine look even lamer, d'oh.
So yeah, just agreed to go to church Sunday evening. My-cousin-the-minister invited me, and I always turn down his invites to church/bible study/religous type things, and this time he was inviting all us "kids" - my brother, sister and his brothers, followed by dinner at his place afterwards. I don't get to see my cousins enough, or my-cousin-the-minister's kids, so I gave in (plus, I always say no, and I knew there was no way my sister or probably my brother will go, so I'm the sacrifice for our family). I just really wanna avoid having to be blunt and saying "in the chance of me actually regularly attending a church again (I haven't since I was about 16), it will most likely *not* be a Sydney Anglican church, but more likely Uniting or similar. Why? Cause your hierarchy, led by the Jensens, and their whole anti-women anti-gay anti-everything ok are...not my cup of tea.", and the whole thing would just be messy, cause cousin is a big Jensen fan. Me, not so much.
*sigh*
On the other hand, just watched Veronica Mars 1x04, and liked it. And have made my very first Veronica icon, though it's not from this episode. And it's not that good, but will do until I can beg, borrow or steal something better *g*.
Liked the backstory, liked seeing Lily more, given how central she is to things. Seeing the relationships, family/dating/friendships. But, Logan was suddenly real, and sympathetic, and there was understanding moments between him and Veronica? Whoa. Psycho!Duncan last week was the most interesting he's been, but I remain interested in finding out more about him and his fucked up family. Wallace and girlfriend were cute, and the a-plot was okay, but it's the ongoing stuff that's keeping me hooked. Weevil! I ::heart:: Weevil. And he'd been crying! Awwwww! I so need a Weevil icon *g*.

Date: 2004-10-22 03:34 pm (UTC)I'm not an Anglican or anything churchy, but this is what happens when your brother in law is a bishop. I like to keep in touch with the Anglican politics. Sheesh. I've been to BBQ's with these people. There is no changing their minds. Ever.

Date: 2004-10-22 11:08 pm (UTC)My cousin is constantly in the letters page of the SMH, normally with stuff that makes me roll my eyes. Love him, but disagree with him on so much.
Moore College is the root of all evil. That's where they learn to be "anti-women anti-gay anti-everything". Gosh, who's in charge? Why it's Peter's brother.
Abso-fucking-lutely. And you gotta love the way the top boys shortened the Archbishop's term with the previous incumbent, and then immediately lengthened it again once Jensen was in.
I know I'm not going to change his mind, I just wish they'd realise the same thing without me being really blunt about it. We've tried to avoid discussing religion with them since my brother almost had a fight at a family get together with my cousin's wife about the ordination of women (this was years ago, we didn't realise quite how conservative they were, and my brother had assumed she'd be in favour of it *g*).

Date: 2004-10-23 12:53 am (UTC)It must be obvious that we don't want to go, and frankly, pushing it the way they do shows a lack of respect, in my opinion. But of course, when it comes to religion, you're doing it for their own good if you alienate people this way. Insert major eye-rolling here ;)
