Howie month Day 2

Oh this footage makes me laugh and laugh. He's such a dork, but in a good way. If it isn't the see-through fireplace, or the hair tossing, it's the "I'm a man" speech or comparing women and hot sauce. And I just noticed that while AJ's Cribs gives a location, this one doesn't, but I assume it's in Florida somewhere. hnix and sinbrat's webspace, please rightclickandsave or equivalent. Started to pick out a picture to post, and ended up with four. Two of intenselyperforming!Howie in leather pants, and two of Howie not quite so intense at a concert, content to sit around and cuddle manhandle Nick. I couldn't choose *g*.

I watched the AJ Cribs mostly kind of 'huh? this is not what fanon had lead me to expect. hmmm.' and Howie's in a state of 'OMFG - he's adorable! He is the sweetest thing EVER!'.

those last two pictures lean towards that reaction as well ;)

Can I ask what was different about AJ than you were expecting? It's always interesting to hear different perceptions on fanon vs canon issues :)

coming to BSB purely through the medium of fic - and crossover fic at that - I was expecting AJ to be, for want of a better word, more of a freak - more lternative, more definate, a little louder, a little less slick all american pop coated. I had his voice totaly differently in my mind from how he speaks, and I think I remember noticing that he didn't move the way I expected him too.

Possibly it's because I'm [also for want of a better word] somethimg of a freak myself, I had expectations for the tattooed newly-together, previously fucked up wild child that I guess I forgot to filter through a] the pop quotant and b] the US / UK divide. That and it was *a* piece of footage, and what do I know, maybe he was halving a calm and normal day. If anything it made me more curious to see more footage to see where the fanon's coming from.

Howie, sweet sweet Howie D, however, was exactly what it said on the tin - adorable, sweet, and very centred.

I know that feeling well :) I think that the first thing lost in a widespread fanon version of the Boys is their senses of humour. AJ is the bad boy, no mention of the sweet dork he can be. Brian is an uptight bible basher, not the goofy, incredibly fun loving guy he is. Kevin is even more uptight and a complete control freak (not that he isn't a control freak sometimes it seems *g*), not the nutcase he often is etc etc.

With AJ, yeah, he's a bad boy in the popworld *g*. It's a combo of a somewhat cultivated image combined with his onstage presence. Performing, he's very sexual (for a pop performer of his type), often shirtless when the other's would be clothed (we have a running joke about AJ's allergy to clothing), very intense. In interviews, he'll talk candidly about stuff like losing his virginity etc. He smokes, he's got tattoos, he dresses more wildly than some of the Boys, he's nearly always wearing sunglasses. He performed as Johnny No Name, his hard rocking bad boy alter ego. But then he's a really sweet guy who loves his mum, his puppies, his Boys, and his long-term girlfriends (ok, and playboy bunnies too, at times). He plays golf in really ugly pants. It's a distinction his mother talks about a lot, between AJ the stage persona and Alex the person.

Howie, sweet sweet Howie D, however, was exactly what it said on the tin - adorable, sweet, and very centred.

He can also be extremely ditzy and rambly, and *incredibly* cheesy on stage (something he did grow out of somewhat, thank god *g*). But so cute and sweet I eventually get over it ;)

Of course, all just in my 'umble opinion ;)
