Work + social life = lj deprivation
Mar. 31st, 2004 07:53 pmThis is the first evening I've really had at home since last Thursday, plus, I'm working full time the next couple of weeks. Being sociable is hard work *g*. Friday was markets in the city with many local (plus visiting) slashers, Saturday was at
iibnf's, Sunday was checking out the new House of
meelie and wishing
alasen an anticipatory Happy Birthday, Monday was an waxing appointment, and last night was dinner was school friends, including one just back from 6 months or so in South and Central America, and one recently back from a couple of years overseas, so that was very nice.
Work is work.
Pro: money.
Con: not that much money.
Pro: it's money!
Pro: low stress work, with few responsibilities. Don't have to deal with customers.
Con: incredibly boring work, staring at a computer all day.
Pro: can listen to music while doing it.
Pro/con: was taken away from boring work for a bit, to update company website, as person (bitch cow who took my job) wasn't there.
Pro: nice people. My sister-in-law, her sister (who I had an appointment with Monday night), and many other nice people. The boss in the section I'm working in this time has LOTR wallpaper and was looking at Harry Potter sites the other day, while I and another guy looked over her shoulder.
Con: I may be charged with homicide if the guy just over from me doesn't fucking stop constantly hacking mucus. He's got a cold, and apparently doesn't believe in blowing his nose. He just makes that fucking hucking noise, or snorts it back. How his sinuses haven't exploded I don't know. Have mentioned this to s-i-l, and D in HR might have a word with him, as we're basically in an open plan office, I wasn't the first to mention it. Even listening to headphones doesn't necessarily block the noise, and it doesn't fade into the background like other noise around the office. Urge to kill - high, rising.
