Last night's "Angel"
May. 15th, 2002 10:26 amIt started slowly, then pissed me off, then made me very happy, then ended oddly.
The whole "Cordelia hiding fatal brain disease" was way too S8 X-Files for me to be happy, though there was at least some basis for it, unlike with Mulder.
Great to see Skip again, and knowing that Cordelia became a demon at some point, I knew what the solution would turn out to be (two spoilers passed, cool!)
Where the ep really picked up was Cordy's alternate reality (she always get's the best ones, like "The Wish").
Gayest. Alternate Reality. Ever.
Wes and Gunn are 'partners', Angel got the visions from Doyle (implied smoochies), and Wes only has one arm (one-arm = slashiness, see also Krycek, Alex and MacDonald, Lindsay)
However, now that Cordy's part-demon, the visions aren't painful? WTF? Doyle was part-demon and the visions hurt him like hell.
Loved the cake, Phantom Dennis, Russell Crowe jokes and Wesley cuddling the baby. Fred, as always, was pointless and annoying.
This season, there have been a Fred-centric ep, and a Gunn-centric ep, and one and a half Cordy-centric eps (I'd only count That Vision Thing as a half). Where's the Wes-centric ep?
All in all, while this season has been far from great, it's not nearly as bad as I'd expected.

Aside from the whole EIG aspect, I didn't really care for the AR, or the ep. Not terrible, but...enh. And the way Angel treated Lorne made me furious - stupid inconsiderate prat. But, yes, I did like Skip's movie references. And what was up with that ending? Abrupt much?
