Desktop meme
Mar. 4th, 2004 09:47 pmMy desktop is not all that exciting (family computer you see), but I don't do these memes all that often, so I figured I'd jump on board with this one.
1. Why you chose the background color/image you did:
No matter what I put up as the wallpaper, my sister will change it to plain black in a short period of time. Or dad puts old playboy pictures up there (don't ask). However, I've discovered that they leave Heidi's pop calendars alone, on the basis that they're vaguelygay practical. I like how well they work at 800x600, leaving me nice blank clear space to have the icons spread out (giving family less reason to get rid of them). I alternate between the Nsync and BSB calendar for the month.
2. Why your toolbar is where it is:
Never been able to get into using it anywhere but at the bottom.
3. Why the choices on your toolbar are present:
Couple of browser windows open with ads for jobs I'll never get. Opera open to Friends page (among other things). AIM window to
copracat, trying to convince her that Backstreet isn't a new fandom, it's just a fun extension to her current one. Outlook for email. Photoshop to resize the image of the desktop. Kazaa, Trillian, Semagic and ZoneAlarm are running in background.
4. What the desktop icons are:
We like to have quite a lot of icons on the desktop. Heap of standard Windows stuff. Some of the ones I use the most are down the right hand side of the screen, under the card games (those are more for dad and sister). Semagic, Kazaa, FTP program, mIRC (though I haven't used this really in quite a while), trillian and PrintFolders (my new favourite tool, for making text lists of files in directories) . Video Editing has got a bunch of shortcuts to things I use for dvd ripping and editing video files. Family Origins (over on the left) is a fairly nice program we're using to record family tree (dad is trying to continue his mother's research into this). Standard sort of things on QuickLaunch, IE, Outlook and desktop.
