Arrrggghhh!
Jan. 20th, 2004 07:36 pmIf you hear of me being arrested, I've finally lost it and attacked my mother with a paintbrush and a broom, over my brother's engagement party this weekend. I have to 'run the kitchen' on the day, and if she adds one more thing that I have to fiddle with on the day, or come up with another stupidarsed thing to do before hand...
All I've done lately is jobs around the house (including an unsuccessful attempt at painting the oven door - turned out the paint really wasn't suited, it's all matte and looks crap) and share footage via AIM*. Left the house for the first time in 3 1/2 days this afternoon, well, my sister and I escaped when mum went out shopping. We sort refuge at her friend P's place, and cooed over her baby, all of 10 days old. Cute little guy, I got to cuddle him for a while (very nervously). He was awake and alert the whole time we were there (which was a while), and he loves to wave his arms around and go crosseyed trying to focus on things too far away for him yet. I was going bugfuck crazy before we got out of the house, I really was.
Look at my purty new icon, made by the lovely miss

*which is a good thing, I love to share footage around, just not a good substitute for getting the fuck out of here.

Date: 2004-01-20 01:04 am (UTC)Aarghhh! 'Ware! 'Ware!
I'd never held a baby in my life, until my friend Jane had tiny little Joshua, 5 weeks premmie. I held him at 2 weeks of age, 3 weeks before he was even due.
I was pregnant 4 months later.
'Ware!!! ;-)

Date: 2004-01-20 01:15 am (UTC)He's not the first, I've held my cousin's babies. I remember holding the eldest in the hospital less than a day after she was born, I was 19 years old, never held a baby before, and petrified. And then my aunt (the grandmother) made a joke out of it! Asked me if the baby was still breathing! I was not impressed, my terror should not be made a mockery of! *g*
But the warning is appreciated! Note to self: don't get pregnant.

I can rest easy now, knowing my warning is heeded *g*.

Probably as terrified as I, when holding Joshua. I knew I'd been found acceptable, though, when he threw up on me.
Ah, babies.

Date: 2004-01-20 01:34 am (UTC)Suffice to say it's nice to reach a stage in my life where I no longer have to walk around with a cloth over my shoulder. :-)
