Well, congratulations to the English team. They out-scrummed us, and out played us in the lineouts. 'Twas a good game of rugby though, despite the conditions.

20-17, after it being 17-all with a minute to go in extra time.

Guess it's about time the English won a world championship at something. How long has it been? 1966 or something?

yes, I am gonna be a slightly sore loser, cause Woodward is gonna be a terribly gloating winner, I'm sure

Thanks for making it so close, it's not like I wasn't already having chest pains. Oh wait...

Ah well - thanks for the news, I'm busy with LotR right now.

I guess if Aust had won, I'd have been wondering idly if the fix was in ;-)

I was watching that earliar - I'm up to Sons of the Steward. Then I'll have to watch it all again, with the cast commentary on :)

So fucking close, the suspense was un-fricking-believable.

I love the Director and Writers commentary - the cast is good, but the crapon level really starts to push my limits after a while! I tend to have to take breaks from it. I also have some problems with Sean Astin being a pompous ass which I won't get into here ;-)

and the game - glad you enjoyed it :-)

sooooo freaking close. Flatley did so well with his kicking under pressure, I was about to scream both times.

*cries* Nooooo! So clooooose!

(I'll be relying on you to tell me what it was like from a sober perspective later.)

Probably almost as nuts as watching it drunk. Now go drink some water ;)

*hiccups* I'm fine. I'll do that anyway, but I'm fine. I'm just devestated that England won after all that. (Devastated? Thingy.) And I was standing next to an English guy and a Kiwi TRAITOR which made it even worse. Bitches. Although they were all homoerotic, which made it kinda better.

*toddles towards the kitchen for water*

You know I actually had a friend (whose family is English) asking me why I was going for the Welsh against the English? For some reason, she just didn't understand "BECAUSE IT'S THE ENGLISH!"

At least I was just with family, and I'm so glad I'm not working next week - the Brits at work, particularly the IT manager, are gonna be insufferable!

But I understand.

Because I was leaning over the shoulder of the Kiwi supporter next to me screaming 'Where's your ANZAC PRIDE?' in his ear. It's the English!

I mean. OMG. ENGLISH.

Lousy Kiwis! I'd (and I have) go for NZ over England.

Yes! I mean, England sent us both out to die together. Most of the time they can't even tell us apart. If we can't support each other against England, who will?

Ireland I would have supported against England. NZ I would have supported wholeheartedly. But to support England over us? That just hurts.

Oh, that was *too* close!!!
Heart in mouth, hiding behind the sofa.
The Aussies so *nearly* did it and either side would have deserved it.

So so so close!

And a damn good game, which I wanted almost as much as I wanted Australia to win :)

And now to bed. My poor nerves...

It *was* a good game. Not pretty, but tense and exciting.

And hey! we actually managed to carry the ball over the line! Who'd have thought it?

So, how about a rematch in 2007? Who's holding it?

It's in France next time. And you're on for a re-match.

Yup, can't really accuse the English of playing boring rugby, the forwards pushed it through so many sustained phaeses, *and* they ran it out wide, as well as kicking well.

We do need a better kicker, someone who can consistenly get some better distance and find touch.
