Of planes, puppies and pop!

Just got back from a lovely long weekend in Melbourne for
indybrat's birthday :) Flew down Friday morning, and for the first time, got bumped to business class! Almost a waste for a 90 minute flight (I was kind of wishing it was longer, given the long list of new movies available on the personal entertainment system), but very very nice. Especially with the extra half hour of sitting around before we took off while they brought out a diesel generator to jumpstart the plane. Impressed by the special queue they had set up at passport control for people going to Bali for the memorial services, nice touch to keep everything as smooth for them as possible. Liza (and her beautiful pup Dakota) collected me from the airport (a drive Liza did 4 times for
sinbrat and I!) and I got to see her lovely house. Footage was watched and squeed over (incuding BSB All Access) and Sin got in Friday night,
Saturday, we ventured into the city for lunch with Melbourne slashers (and watched the NZ rugby supporters painting really cool tattoos and stuff on each other on the train). Got to see Mirna and
out_there again, and meet Genie and
kaneko. We also stopped by Minotaur (of course), where I was suitably impressed, drooled over many things, bought a Lois McMaster Bujold book I've been wanting for ages, and made Liza squeal loudly with a Justin book. An evening of much pop-ness and evil taxi's ensued, and I failed to convince
kaneko that she really did want to write Backstreet stories (despite the incredible cuteness of the footage we were watching. She just kept pointing at the Nsync pictures on the walls and saying stuff about 'her boys'. I failed to talk her into crossovers, either *g*. But,
alasen, JOEY IS NOT A ROBOT! We asked her about 5 seconds after meeting her,and he isn't!)
Sunday was a leisurely sleep-in, with a trip to (finally) see Pirates of the Carribean! I want a Captain Jack Sparrow of my very own! And to see Chris dressed up as Jack (which I really don't think is too much to ask for *g*). Picked up Thai for dinner, and while we waiting, sat around and steamed up the car windows. More footage, more squeeing, including "For the Fans", the BSB CBS concert and Joey in Rent bootleg. I saw the most of Australian Idol I've ever seen in the evening, and was quite impressed by a number of them. Wrong person got voted out the next night though.
Monday - Sin abandoned us and went home, and then we went to an amazing huge dvd and cd place (where I only bought 1 cd, which was damn restrained). And Liza, if you want copies of BSB albums, there are often some on Ebay Australia. It was concerts galore - Pop Odyssey bootleg, Celebrity bootleg, Justin Live in London, Unedited Top 40 videos (where we hated the producers for not feeding the boys).
This morning, we listened to the Triple J radio piece about slash (including Popslash), as we got ready and then in the car. Not as bad as I feared. Thanks for the tape,
veronamay. Was very sad to leave. Thanks for having us down, Liza, I had a great time spening time with you :)
Some footage comments:
Anyone know who filmed the Unedited Top 40 stuff? We thought it was Steve Fatone until we saw him wandering around with a camera. Which is good, because whoever filmed it was rather obsessed with the guys' crotches,
Why did no one mention that the San Diego PopOd bootleg (the one Nsyncland sells) has the girl getting onto the catwalk and getting to Justin, during Bye Bye Bye?
indybrat had asked me while we were watching it about that, and then right at the end we noticed a kerfuffle on the catwalk. We had to rewatch several times to make sure it was what we thought it was, as it's quite far away.
Chris Kirkpatrick and Rick Campanelli. Unbelievable chemistry.
The Boys are even cuter on Much than I remembered *g*.
sinbrat has mentioned this already, but it bears repeating. Some appearance, Lance's hair is very spiky and all over the place, comments about fingers and electrical sockets are made. Later in same appearance, Wade pops up, with even spikier and crazier hair.
indybrat: Wade must have put his finger in Lance's socket. And then she realised what she said *g*.
Why have no BSB concerts since Homecoming in Orlando/A Night Out been released? We get MSG and PopOd and (hopefully) a Celebrity dvd, but no equivalent, apart from For the Fans?
Joey is incredibly adorable in Rent, was very good, and looked like he was having the time of his life.
I'm sure I'll remember more. And our wish-list of things regarding Nsync's next album and concert will need a whole entry to itself :)

Date: 2003-10-14 02:13 am (UTC)Ah, finally the ages old question, 'Is Joey, in fact, a robot?' is answered. And that answer is no, he isn't a robot. Because only a silly, silly person would think that in the first place. Ahem.
Did you guys scare kaneko with the urgency of the question? :P

Sounds like you all had so much fun! And it was so great to catch up on the Thursday (that seems sooooo long ago now!) and I appreciate the effort - especially with your dentist-induced-numbness! :)
