Didn't get enough sleep last night, so was happy that I was only working 8:30 to 12:30 today. Then, I thought, I can go home and get stuff done (bookings, bills, naps, job hunting etc.)

Then F calls from my irregular place of semi-employment, and asks me to work this afternoon as half the staff are off sick. I explain I'm dead tired, but they really need a hand, so here I am ::whimper::

Money good. Sleep better though.

Pet Peeve of the Day: people who return missed calls to their mobile without recognising the number, get a switchboard, and asked if anyone called them. Um, hello? Unless you recognise the company and remember that so-and-so that you know works there, probably give up at this point. If you must, ask if the person knows if anyone was trying to contact them. Don't um and ah and ask lots of pointless fucking questions. Either the receptionist knows if someone was trying to contact you, or they don't. And guess what? While they are probably a capable and hardworking person, they don't know every outbound call from a place.

Really, unless your a tradesperson or something, returning unrecognised missed calls without good reason is something that completely baffles me. If it's important, they'll leave a message (if possible) or get back to you.

Awww, nuts

The Angel ep 13 I downloaded last week is corrupt. Sound works fine but the picture freezes after a few seconds.

Note to self: let file play for more than a few seconds to check if it works.

Worked 7 hours today, between building management place (pretending to be a receptionist at a dozen different organisations) and weightloss company (sitting in office with harbour view cutting ads out of old newspapers).

Money is good, money is good, money is good, money is good...

Will be working on a switch from 10am til 2pm, from tomorrow until next Friday,

Tedious, busy work that is really not what I want to be doing, but at least it's money, and it isn't all day :)

Rose called yesterday, they needed a receptionist today. And it was busy. 8:30 to lunch at 1:30pm, I didn't have a break, and the phones were flat out. After lunch was much more normal.

Well, at about 11:30, it wasn't too busy (comparatively), so I pulled out my morning tea, a banana, which I figure I'll sneakily eat at my desk while the phones are quiet and no one is around. Just as I've peeled it, the elevator doors open and out wanders a camera crew from a current affairs show. I play "hide the banana and look responsible", but luckily, it turns out that they are here for a pre-arranged interview with CEO, and not doing a foot in the door expose. About an hour later, I'm plowing through calls and messages and stuff, trying to concentrate while they get establishing shots of CEO in foyer and standing in front of the reception desk, watching what I'm doing. I did hear the camera guy talking about panning along to a certain point, and stopping before they get to me, and I bloody hope that ended up being the case.

The good news is, I'm going in for two hours tomorrow, so that I can be trained to look after the company website next week, when C is away. That'll be 20-25 hours of work, afternoons only. Grunt work mostly, but more fun than reception (which isn't hard, admittedly), and is more related to what I actually want to be doing.

Money!

Am at work today, since they are short-staffed. Yay, money! :)

No, I haven't become a gambler, I'm working this afternoon while everyone in this office goes to a Melbourne Cup party.

So pretty much I'm gonna get paid to answer the phone and take messages, and surf the net. Cool :)

Cause [livejournal.com profile] hnix is a icon-making machine! And cause a MST3K quote this good deserves a Smallville illustration.

Totally forgot SV was on tonight. Hope anyone who watches it and did remember admired the way when someone says "turn around", Lex hears it as "assume the position" ;)

Worked today, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] calemiri. Nepotism is a very, very good thing. Discussed who we reckon will end up dead by the end of the Harry Potter books (consensus seems to be that Dumbledore is a Dead Man Walking *g*).

Will try and get around to picking up the 20 rolls of holiday photos tomorrow. If the cost of getting them developed doesn't bankrupt me, the price of the photo albums will ;)

get screwed over.

*sigh*

I was going to be good today, and do the shopping/banking/letter-and-resume-writing that I need to do.

Just after nine am, as I finish some shopping lists and am about to go out, Rose calls and asks me if I can work today. I am powerless to the lure of money, and so am at work now, rather than getting things on my mammoth "To Do" list done. I'm so weak (plus, they were really short staffed). At least I got the banking done on my way to work.
