Joss..you...you...magnificent bastard
Apr. 16th, 2002 11:15 amSorry to mis-use Papa Luthor's title, but Joss Whedon has reclaimed his god-like status, at least for now. "Once More With Feeling" rocked, and not just in the musical sense.
However, I thought that it was an extra-long ep in the US, and we were going to get a slightly cut version, but I've read the TWoP recap and the lyrics, and as far as I can tell, we saw it all. Cool.
- They should have had ASH sing more.
- The Anya and Xander duet was the most I've enjoyed them in ages.
- I'm glad Alyson Hannigan didn't sing more than she did, as her voice seemed to be the weakest out of all of them.
- Amber Benson did great, both with the singing, and Tara finding out of what Willow has done to her.
- There were some great one-liners, like "Dawn's in trouble. Must be Tuesday."
- The reaction to Buffy revealing that they didn't save her from hell was ok, except that I said "sucked in bitch" when they showed Willow's heartbroken face. I have Willow issues.
- Buffy and Spike. Poor Spike, she's just going to use you to try and find some passion. Still not all the invested in them as a pairing, but am willing to watch and see how badly this will turn out. Plus, lots of James Masters is a good thing.
- The singing Mutant Enemy logo nearly killed me.

Date: 2002-04-15 07:16 pm (UTC)I haven't enjoyed a Buffy episode this much in ages. I think I'll re-watch it some time today.

Date: 2002-04-15 11:06 pm (UTC)re Buffy. Forgot to watch it. Will ask Luthien if I can go watch it at her place next I'm over *g*.
I'd read tonnes of neg comments about it, but that was on a Hercverse list, they were comparing it to the musical Xena ep (which I loved).

Date: 2002-04-16 12:54 am (UTC)Oh, yeah. I was watching the credits and basking in the warm glow of an ep I liked so much, when suddenly - singing logo! Bwahaha. Glad I wasn't spoiled for that, at least.
And while I was distracted by her alarmingly hideous outfits while watching the show, listening to the mp3s made me realise that - hey! Amber Benson's a really good singer! Wow. ASH was amazing too, of course, but that wasn't a surprise.
I'm also with you on Xander and Anya's duet. Deifitely the most I've enjoyed them, either separately or together, in quite a while. (Huh. That sounds really filthy. And it's probably a little harsh - Xander, at least, has had a few good lines. But...meh.)

Date: 2002-04-16 06:24 am (UTC)Buffy and Spike - with you on the -FINALLY- thing but I do hate the way Joss takes all episode to get me to the part I like best of the show, and then cuts it off dead :(
He's a tease.
I'd heard good things about James Marsters but while he was better than the rest of the cast (bar Amber Benson and ASH) I thought he was pretty average. The kiss at the end makes up for it, though
