book review
Jun. 26th, 2010 10:01 amI am terrible at picking my favourites of things: favourite movie, favourite book, favourite song etc - I hate trying to do it.
But I would have to include Pride and Prejudice amongst my favourite books, so I finally got around to reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I've been wanting to ever since I first heard about it.
Alas, I hated it. It's a vaguely interesting concept that is wasted by the lazy author, who thinks that people puking and lame single-innuendos (which get even less funny as they are repeated) are how to keep things interesting. I wouldn't have been impressed if this had been written for a Remix challenge (though why I have higher expectations of something that is still fanfic, even if it is professionally published, is my own failing).
I think I need to cleanse my palate with some real P&P, though I can't re-read the book just yet. Maybe I'll watch one of the four different versions we have on dvd - but which one?

Date: 2010-06-26 01:57 pm (UTC)I did wonder if we were all reading the same book. I couldn't believe it was just so CRAP! So amazingly UNFUNNY! And to do it he had to really screw with the characters.
Watch the Liz Garvie & David Rintoul version.
Considering they didn't have a decent buget this is an interesting adaption.
Then again I fell for David Rintoul when I watched it as a hormonal teen.
