I saw Sherlock Holmes on Tuesday with
iibnf, and loved it! ♥ ♥ So I'm now re-reading some Arthur Conan Doyle and the first story I read is A Scandal in Bohemia, which introduces Irene Adler! Huh, they've completely re-written her character. And another story which has the line where Holmes praises Watson for having the gift of silence and how invaluable that makes him - except Watson just accepts it as a compliment and doesn't punch him in the face. I'm still sad that Irene's line from the trailer "they've been flirting like this for hours" wasn't in the movie, I wanted context!
But what amused me most is this line from the start of The Speckled Band: "Very sorry to knock you up, Watson", said he. Holmes/Watson mpreg, anyone?
What I really want to re-watch, but suspect it won't be as enjoyable now as when I was a kid, was the Sherlock Holmes comedy Without A Clue with Michael Caine and Ben Kingsley. I just have a craving to see it again for some reason.
